Tennessee Titans Grant Linebacker Harold Landry Permission To Seek Trade

Tennessee Titans

ESPN Insider Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday morning the Tennessee Titans granted Linebacker Harold Landry permission to seek a trade this offseason. Landry is set to make $17.5 million next season. He is coming off a solid 2024 season for the Tennessee Titans. Landry finished with 71 total tackles and led the team with 9 sacks.

He has been a top-flight linebacker over his last three healthy seasons. Landry has 31.5 sacks over his last three seasons. He missed the entirety of the 2022 season with a Torn ACL. Landry’s lone Pro Bowl appearance came after the 2021 season when he was 10th in the league in sacks. How will this situation between Landry and the Titans resolve itself this offseason?

Tennessee Titans Offseason Summary

The news of the Titans permitting Landry to seek a trade signals an offseason of upheaval in Tennessee. That is not necessarily a bad thing as the team holds the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With Landy presumably playing elsewhere next season, speculation has grown the Titans will target Penn State Defensive End Abdul Carter with the No. 1 pick.

Regardless if Carter is drafted by the team, the Tennessee Titans must also figure out the quarterback position. Former second-round pick Will Levis does not look like the long-term answer at the position. In a weak quarterback class, the Titans will reportedly pursue Aaron Rodgers this offseason to serve as a bridge quarterback while the team finds a better answer.

Final Thoughts

Landry is far from the only high-profile player to be granted permission by his team to seek a trade this offseason. At only 28, he will be a hot commodity this spring. With the Tennessee Titans undergoing a full rebuild, accumulating more draft picks is the right strategy.
