The top of the depth chart looks fairly set. A healthy Christian Watson and Jayden Reed provide a lethal one-two punch. Matthew Golden will naturally absorb a larger target share, and tight end Tucker Kraft remains a primary option when fully healthy.

But who steps in behind them? The drop-off after Golden is steep. The front office brought in free agent Skyy Moore, but his recent track record shows he is primarily a kick returner. Despite the modest stats, his physical profile is undeniable. At 6-foot-4 and 222 pounds, Williams possesses the size and strength to overpower defensive backs. He is built to do much more than just run toss sweeps or catch quick screens. He flashed his big-play potential as a rookie, highlighted by a massive 33-yard reception against the New York Giants. The Packers know the raw talent is absolutely there.

Capitalizing on a Golden Opportunity

A lot of the current offseason hype surrounds Matthew Golden stepping up to replace Doubs. This is completely fair, but it overshadows the incredible opportunity sitting right in front of Williams.

Wicks caught 30 passes for 332 yards last season. Those targets have to go somewhere. Furthermore, Watson and Reed combined to miss 17 games last year. If Green Bay faces similar injury struggles, the team will lean heavily on their depth. Even if the starters stay perfectly healthy, modern NFL offenses require four capable receivers to rotate through and keep the defense guessing.

Williams has the physical tools to be a matchup nightmare in the red zone and on third downs. He just needs the on-field reps to prove it to the coaching staff.

The front office might still draft a receiver on Day 3, but the team has pressing needs at cornerback and defensive tackle. A late-round rookie is highly unlikely to steal the WR4 spot right away.
