Jarrett Allen Makes An Impact, Improves Cavs’ Chances Of Winning

New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns (32) defends Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen (31) during the first half at Rocket Arena.

Jarrett Allen joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2021, and since then, he has been an important piece of their puzzle. The center was a part of a four-team trade, and interestingly enough, that was the deal that sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. Fast forward to the present, and Allen and Harden are teammates.

Recently, the All-Star center returned to action, as he missed time due to a knee injury. He returned in Cleveland’s game against the Miami Heat, and he helped his team pull off an impressive win. Now, the Cavs are headed West, and they will try to add to their win total. The Cavaliers have a chance to go 3-0 during that trip, and for that to happen, they will need strong performances from Allen and others.

Allen Returns To the Court

In the Cavaliers’ win over the Heat, their starting center picked up where he left off. He had some excellent games in February, averaging 29.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.3 blocks. He started the month with a big game, as he had 40 points against the Portland Trail Blazers. He did a bit of everything, as he also had 17 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks, and 2 steals.

Allen could not be stopped, and his big night helped the Cavs get a road win. They were in the second game of a long road trip, and that started that period with a loss. They lost to the Phoenix Suns, but the win over the Blazers was the start of a winning streak.

After that, the Cavs center started March with a 20-point game against the Nets. Cleveland won that game, and shortly after that, the All-Star center and his teammates picked up a win over the Detroit Pistons. Allen missed time, but his game against the Heat showed how important he is to the team.

Allen and The Cavs Face West Teams

Cleveland’s West Coast trip will begin with a game against the Utah Jazz. The Jazz have struggled this season, and they are 14th in the Western Conference. They recently lost their fifth game in a row, as the Suns beat them 134-109.

Utah is running into a contending East team that won by 21 in its last game, and this outing could have a similar outcome. Then, once the Cavs are done with that game, they will face the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors.

While Allen played in the last game, he will be out for the next one. It is due to right knee management, but as the road trip progresses, he will likely return.

Can Allen And the Cavs Go 3-0?

Road trips are a challenge, and when a team goes across the country, it is even harder. The Cavaliers can get a win over the Jazz, but the Lakers and the Warriors are tougher opponents. The Lakers are third in their conference, and they have a record of 48-26. The Warriors are 10th in the West, and they are trying to become a .500 team.

Both teams will put up a fight, and if Allen is active, the Cavaliers’ odds are even better. The All-Star impact is undeniable, and chances are, he finishes the season on a good note.

At this point, he averages 15.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. He makes an impact on both ends of the floor, and with a star like Donovan Mitchell scoring, the Cavaliers are hard to stop. Cleveland is a contender, and when Harden entered the picture, the Cavs received a boost.

The playoffs are around the corner, and the Cavs are preparing for a deep run. That goal is attainable, but the team’s core, which includes Allen, has to play at a high level. More importantly, they have to do it consistently. The center and his teammates are headed in the right direction, and their road trip can keep that momentum going.
