5 WWE Wrestlers Who Must Win At WrestleMania 42 Night Two
WrestleMania 42’s first night is already in the history books. What’s next for WWE’s grandest sports entertainment extravaganza of the year?
Last night, Cody Rhodes retained his Undisputed WWE Championship against “The Viper” Randy Orton. However, every other title defended changed hands. Becky Lynch defeated AJ Lee for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, Liv Morgan captured the Women’s World Title from Stephanie Vaquer, and the makeshift team of Brie Bella and a returning Paige would win the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Other winners included Gunther, Jacob Fatu, and the three-man pairing of The Usos and LA Knight.
When it comes to the win/loss record, there are a handful of stars who must secure a victory during Night Two of WrestleMania 42. Without further ado, here’s a look at who desperately needs to win in Las Vegas on Sunday inside Allegiant Stadium.
#5. Trick Williams Must Defeat Sami Zayn To Win The WWE United States Championship
The Lemon Pepper Stepper is arguably the most charismatic new addition to SmackDown! Williams proved in NXT that he’s a top-caliber performer with a solid connection to the live audience, which has spilled over to his current spot on the main roster.
A win for Trick at WrestleMania would elevate him. After a victory at ‘Mania, Williams can then feud with his former ally, Carmelo Hayes. A punch from Trick cost Melo the US Title to Zayn, which adds fuel to the fire for a potential clash between the two NXT standouts on the main roster sometime soon.
Zayn could potentially benefit from a loss to Trick at WrestleMania, as it would free him up to go after more prestigious prizes like the World Heavyweight Championship.
#4. Roman Reigns Must Defeat CM Punk For The World Heavyweight Championship

It’s been over two years since The OTC reigned supreme as Undisputed Champion of WWE. At WrestleMania this Sunday, it is time for Roman Reigns to claim his place as a top champion in WWE by capturing the World Heavyweight Title.
The feud has become highly personal between Punk and Reigns, especially considering the comment Punk made about burying Roman next to his deceased dad, Sika. Punk also didn’t take too kindly to Roman calling him “old.”
This storyline may be the perfect way to bring Sami Zayn back into a main-event singles role, putting him in the center of the beef between Punk and Reigns. The former Honorary Uce could aid Reigns in winning the title.
Zayn could potentially have multiple motives for doing so, including Punk’s apparent disrespect towards Sika, Sami’s loyalty to Roman Reigns returning to the surface, a loathing for Punk and his hypocrisy, and the desire for Zayn to win his first singles WWE world title from Reigns.
#3. Oba Femi Needs a Convincing Victory Over Brock Lesnar
Much like Williams, Oba Femi is one of the rising young stars recently called up from NXT. During his short time on the main roster, Femi has already mixed it up with Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event last December, showcasing himself as a top-tier competitor worthy of a marquee match.
A win over Lesnar would elevate Femi to the next level on his way to becoming a breakout performer in 2026. Lesnar defeating a red-hot Femi would cool the 27-year-old’s momentum, which is something that should be avoided at all costs. Before the year is up, Femi could be a full-fledged main-eventer in WWE, a trajectory that would be aided by a win over Lesnar at ‘Mania.
#2. Penta Needs To Retain His WWE Intercontinental Championship
The fearless masked luchador is scheduled to defend his IC Title against five tough competitors, including Je’Von Evans, Dragon Lee, “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev, Judgment Day’s JD McDonagh, and the Hall of Famer, Rey Mysterio. Penta has been champion for less than two months, and he needs a standout victory to increase his credibility as a titleholder in WWE’s single division.
Penta losing this early in his title reign would hurt his momentum. While a title win for any of his opponents would likely benefit their career trajectory, it would arguably hurt Penta more than it could potentially help them. Penta really hasn’t done much as champion, and he would seem like a transitional champion to lose it so soon without much story or drama.
This title defense is likely to be the most memorable match of Penta’s title reign (so far). Therefore, if he loses, his loss would occur during the most memorable and important battle of his reign. If WWE is looking to build up the credibility of Penta and his mid-card title, it would arguably be best to keep the title on him and hold off on a Je’Von Evans title victory for now.
#1. “The Demon” Finn Balor Must Defeat “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio
Finn Balor obviously needs the win in his match with the dirtiest former two-time Intercontinental Champion. After being kicked out of The Judgment Day, Balor has returned to being a fan favorite, awakening The Demon within. Balor needs the victory to continue his momentum and potentially become the star he was meant to be before his injury at SummerSlam a decade ago.
A loss for Balor would cool his momentum, giving an unnecessary win to a heel and potentially causing Balor’s career to go on a downward trajectory. In contrast, Dom Mysterio wouldn’t be so severely impacted in defeat, as his heel character could use it as added motivation for him and his “Judgment Day” goons to seek retribution against Finn and The Demon.
The Demon form of Finn Balor is also considered to be Balor at his strongest. It would hurt both Balor and The Demon if he were to lose to Dirty Dom on a stage like WrestleMania.
