Errors

An error cost the Dukes this game. The error was committed by Jack Anderson, and was followed by three singles from Louisiana-Monroe. That was the only error committed by the Dukes, and it always seems as if fielding errors are followed by an offensive outburst from your opponent.

Players need to concentrate and expect the ball to be hit to them. It is unclear what the problem was in this game, but players must always be baseball-ready, as even one error can cost a team a game.

It is often the case that with young players, a coach needs to remind them before every pitch to be baseball-ready and to expect the batter to hit the ball to them. Coaches hope this lesson sticks with baseball players. This is one of the ways baseball is like life. One always needs to be ready for their opportunity.
