Catholic University 2026 Spring Track and Field Has Multiple Great Performances At Seahawk Invitational

Catholic University Track and Field had several great performances on Saturday in St. Mary’s, Maryland, at the Seahawk Invitational. Many Catholic athletes participated in the meet, so this article will focus on these great performances.

There are 10 more track meets for Catholic University this spring. The season culminates with the Conference and NCAA Championships, May 2 and 3, and May 21-23, respectively. Along the way, the Cardinals will compete in the Penn Relays April 23-25. Have you heard of the Penn Relays?

Catholic University At the Seahawk Invitational

Men

Some of the standout male performances for Catholic University at the Seahawk Invitational included freshman Tim Sweeney, who won the 1500-meter race in a personal-best time of 4:19.84. There were five other Catholic University athletes in the 1500-meter race. In their order of finish for the team were Tim Brown, who finished fourth, Daniel Ponciano, a personal best, Matt Haugh, Richard Harrington, and Kamran Jagadesan.

Michael Brunet also won the 800-meter race with a time of 1:58.59. David Stango was second with a season-best time; Shane Waring, Joshua Leon, and Matthew McCormack also had season-bests. So, like the 1500-meter race, there were five Catholic University athletes in this race.

In the 100-meter race, Calvin Hernandez finished second, and Marco Indelicato also ran. In the 400-meter race, Augustine Howard finished second, Colin Matthews had a personal best, Gabe Stypul, and Brady Falcon.

In the field events, the men also did well. Mark Enamorado got a season best and a second-place finish in the hammer throw. Caden Lopez and Benjamin Warr also competed.

Drew Madden won the high jump. Quinn Brubaker and Charles Connolly III also competed. Max Lindung won the Javelin. Caden Lopez threw a personal best; James Varellas also competed.

Several other Catholic University athletes competed in all events, especially the field events. The story was the same for the women. There were many Catholic University athletes in this meet.

Women

In the 1500-meter race, Isabel Doran was third, and Margaret Glenn also raced in the event. Seven Catholic University women qualified for the finals of the 100-meter race. They were Erin Buckley, who won with a season-best time. Kortney Clipper was second, Ainsley Reisman was third, Felicity Giampietro fourth, Erin Driscoll was fifth, Emily McDermond got a season best and finished sixth, and Catalina Zumbado was seventh.

Mya Sampong was fourth in the 400-meter race and recorded a personal best. Zoey Brown, Riley Walsh, and Alexa Grassi all raced. In the 100-meter hurdles, Corina Colmenares Bittar got a season best, Alicia Vo, Chloe Dodd, Pauline Kennedy, and Kate Quashne were all in the race.

Brigid Byrnes won in the 400-meter hurdles, Mia McConnell, and Colmenares Bittar had a personal best time. In 200 meters there were several Catholic athletes in the 200 meter race and there were three season bests.

In the long jump events, Edith Tomasek was the top-placed Catholic University athlete. Alyssa Oscar had a season best. Alica Vo and Erin Driscoll both jumped. Caroline Welsh threw a season-best shot put and got a second-place finish. Pauline Kennedy and Kealyn Boodlal also had a season best, and Bethany Riddle also threw.

Chole Dodd got a season best in the pole vault, and in the discus, Bethany Riddle finished third place, and Maggie McNulty had a personal best.

Catholic University was successful in its track meet at the Seahawk Invitational. They recorded several victories and a bunch of personal and seasonal bests. The Cardinals are shaping up for the season-ending conference and NCAA Tournaments.
