How do wins and losses affect Texas Rangers fans’ happiness?

The 2026 MLB All-Star Game is coming up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This year will mark the fourth time the Philadelphia Phillies will host the All-Star Game, but the first since the team moved to Citizens Bank Park in 2004.

The Lines, a sports betting platform, recently tracked 3,000 MLB fans over the course of a week, surveying the fans before and after games to measure how much game outcomes shake up their baseline happiness, also known as their everyday mood, on a scale from one to ten.

The MLB season is in full swing — and professional baseball fans’ moods are swinging right along with the season. Here’s how wins and losses affect the Rangers fans’ moods, along with the rest of the league.

How Wins and Losses Affect Texas Rangers Fans’ Happiness
Multiple sources have reported on the Texas Rangers fans’ intense emotional highs and lows tied to the team’s performance and roster changes. In May, a report confirmed that Rangers fans vented their frustrations to local media outlets, indicating a pattern of mood swings between happiness after wins and disappointment after losses.

The Rangers fans’ anger might be uncalled for, but this type of volatility is common among all 30 MLB fanbases. After winning the 2023 World Series, Rangers fans enjoyed a so-called championship high, but the team finished third in the AL West with a 78-84 record and missed the playoffs in 2024.

The Lines started from a 7.2 baseline as the Rangers fans’ happiness climbed to a solid 8.0 following a win and fell to a low 6.7 after a loss. The Lines’ data was split into three groups: baseline happiness to show how fans normally felt, while post-win and post-loss scores isolated fans who actively followed the games.

Where the Rangers Fans Stand vs. Rest of the League
Believe it or not, Rangers fans don’t suffer the biggest drop in happiness after a loss. Colorado Rockies fans suffer the largest drop after a loss, falling from a 6.5 to a 4.5 out of 10. Rockies fans’ drop can be attributed to a mix of team struggles, humiliating losses, so-called sports fan depression symptoms, emotional investments, and high expectations.

In contrast, Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Angels fans experience the biggest spikes in happiness after a win. The Cubs fans’ average happiness score rises from a 6.5 to an 8.1, while the Angels fans’ score jumps from a 6.5 to a 7.7. Tampa Bay Rays fans also get a big dose of happiness, rising from a 7.4 to an 8.5.

In addition, San Diego Padres fans experience fewer mood swings compared to the rest of the league. The Padres fans’ score falls just 0.2 points from a 6.8 baseline after a loss and rises only 0.1 points following a win. The Padres fanbase is often described as level-headed due to their ability to balance optimism with realism.

Rangers’ Outlook
The Rangers’ outlook appears to be optimistic. The Rangers are first in the AL West with a 48-47 with a .505-win percentage entering Sunday’s game against the Houston Astros at Globe Life Field. Moreover, Texas looks to avoid a two-game losing skid with a win over the Astros. Previously, Houston blew out Texas 9-3 on Saturday.

Despite the optimism, Texas remains in a tight race to win the AL West. The Rangers’ offensive spark has been hot, ranking second in MLB in total bases and tied for third in home runs. The Rangers can benefit from maintaining consistency, increasing depth, and prevailing in close games to make the playoffs.
