24% Of FC Dallas Fans Bet Against Their Team
The 2026 MLS season is officially starting, so Betting.net took the pulse of 1,500 U.S. soccer fans across the country, asking one question: “Would you bet against your own team?” According to Betting.net, 24% of FC Dallas fans have bet against their MLS team at least once. Here’s why, along with other fans’ reactions in the entire study.
FC Dallas Fans Bet Against Their MLS Team
The new MLS season is kicking off soon, and FC Dallas fans have been one of the top highlights of the latest study by Betting.net. 24% of FC Dallas’ fans have already bet against their MLS team at least once.
Nearly 33% of MLS fans have bet against their favorite team — and 84% say they would. San Jose Earthquakes fans are the most likely to betray their team, with 95% saying they would place the bet. Houston Dynamo fans are the least likely at 67%.
55% of Austin FC fans have already bet against their team at least once, the highest score among all MLS fanbases. 25% of U.S. soccer fans have bet against the U.S. national soccer team, and 73% said they would do so. 49% consider betting against Team USA a betrayal, compared to the 42% who say the same about betting against their favorite MLS team.
FC Dallas Fans Would Bet Against Their Team
Not every FC Dallas fan has bet against their favorite MLS team. However, Betting.net uncovered that 76% of FC Dallas fans would bet against the team. At the same time, 45% of FC Dallas’ fans see betting as a form of betrayal to the club.
Any MLS fan who watches their favorite team lose would suffer pure heartbreak. A true MLS fan would always believe in their team. But are these two statements really true? According to Betting.net, an MLS fan’s loyalty seems a lot more flexible once money gets involved. 64% said they’d feel uncomfortable betting against their favorite team, while 42% called it an outright betrayal. 28% said they’ve bet against their team at least once. And, on average, an MLS fan is more likely to switch sides with a $148 payout.
The study doesn’t just apply to Dallas, but also to Austin. 55% of Austin FC fans admitted to having bet on their favorite MLS team at least once. San Jose Earthquakes fans are most likely to betray their favorite team, at a striking 95%, while 53% of the Earthquakes’ fans still consider betting a form of betrayal.
In contrast, Colorado Rapids fans are the least likely to bet against their favorite MLS team, with just 9% of Rapids fans doing so. 73% of Rapids fans called betting betrayal against their favorite team, even with a cash offer.
FC Dallas’ Outlook
FC Dallas’ outlook appears to be bright. FC Dallas is set for a promising 2026 season, with several key players, strategic moves, and leadership skills, starting with Head Coach Eric Quill.
