San Antonio Spurs Point Guard Chris Paul played his 1,330 career game last night against the Memphis Grizzlies. That vaulted the future Hall of Famer to 18th all-time in regular season games played. Paul passed Moses Malone on the all-time list. Next up for Paul is Gary Payton who played in 1,335 games during his illustrious career.
Paul has played well in his first season with the San Antonio Spurs. He is seventh in the league in assists. Even though Paul is not the player he used to be, he has given the young Spurs a veteran presence as they look to get back on the path toward success. How much longer will Paul be able to keep it up?

Things were shaping up for the Spurs before Center Victor Wembanyama was sidelined for the remainder of the 2025 season with a blood clot in his shoulder. The big guy was having a great season and was a massive favorite to be named Defensive Player of the Year. San Antonio had a strong NBA Trade Deadline acquiring Point Guard De’Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings. He was expected to pair with Wembanyama in the second half of this season. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
The Spurs are 25-33 and the No. 13 seed in the Western Conference. It will be difficult for San Antonio to sneak into the NBA Play-In Tournament this season. San Antonio’s offense has been middling this year. They are 17th in points scored, 18th in field goal percentage, and 25th in three-point percentage. Even with Wembanyama’s contributions, the team’s defense was not as good as expected. They are 19th in points allowed, 16th in opposing field goal percentage, and 12th in opposing three-point percentage.
Final Thoughts
Paul and the San Antonio Spurs return to the court this evening at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Paul’s career is coming to an end. NBA fans should enjoy whatever time remains in the career of one of the NBA’s best point guards of all time.
