The Sacramento Kings had a tremendous offensive game Monday night on the road against the Detroit Pistons. Their offense was paced by the dynamic trio of Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan. Sabonis finished the game with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. It was his 50th triple-double as a member of the Sacramento Kings.
DeRozan finished with 37 points and LaVine finished with a season-high 43 points. This offensive onslaught helped Sacramento win its third consecutive game. The game remained so close due to the strong play of Detroit Pistons Point Guard Cade Cunningham. He finished with 35 points. Will the Sacramento Kings be able to keep winning games with the postseason around the corner?
Sacramento Kings Season Summary
The Kings got off to a poor start this regular season. It led to the firing of Head Coach Mike Brown following a 13-18 start. They also made a marquee trade at the NBA Trade Deadline that saw them trade away Point Guard De’Aaron Fox for LaVine. It has been a mediocre season for the Kings. They are 39-40 and will be part of the NBA Play-In Tournament.
As was the case on Monday, Sacramento’s offense is one of the league’s best. They are 10th in points scored, 12th in field goal percentage, and 19th in three-point percentage. The issue for the team has been its defense. They are 20th in points allowed, 23rd in opposing field goal percentage, and the worst team in the league at defending the three-pointer.
Final Thoughts
Sacramento returns to the court on Wednesday when they host a Denver Nuggets team in freefall. Sacramento is locked into the No. 9 or 10 seed heading into the postseason. If they can continue playing well they can make it into the main bracket of the Western Conference.Â
