Pittsburgh Steelers Set To Face New Orleans Saints In France

The Pittsburgh Steelers might want to start brushing up on their French because all signs are pointing toward one of the NFL’s splashiest international matchups yet. According to multiple reports floating around league circles Tuesday, the Steelers are expected to face the New Orleans Saints in the NFL’s first-ever regular-season game in Paris during the 2026 season.

The reported matchup would take place at the legendary Stade de France in Week 7 on Oct. 25. Several outlets, including Sports Illustrated and Steelers-focused reporters, have confirmed the growing belief that Pittsburgh is headed overseas once again after last season’s successful trip to Dublin.

Steelers Continue Becoming the NFL’s International Favorite

At this point, the Steelers aren’t just America’s Team abroad; they are turning into the NFL’s touring rock band. Pittsburgh fans travel like retired Bruce Springsteen roadies with unlimited airline miles. Dublin proved that last season. Fans packed pubs, flooded streets, and basically turned Ireland into Western Pennsylvania with better accents and stronger beer. The NFL noticed. Now comes Paris.

From a league perspective, the Steelers make perfect sense. They bring ratings. They bring history. Most importantly, they bring fans who will absolutely convince themselves a six-hour flight is “not that bad” if it means seeing black and gold near the Eiffel Tower.

The NFL announced earlier this year that the Saints would serve as the designated home team for the first game in France. But the opponent remained a mystery until schedule leaks started spilling across social media Tuesday afternoon. If the reports hold, Pittsburgh gets another opportunity to strengthen its already massive international footprint.

Why the Steelers-Saints Matchup Actually Works

This isn’t some random throwaway international game the league shoved onto the calendar at 9:30 in the morning, hoping Americans accidentally leave their TVs on. There is real intrigue here.

The Steelers remain one of the NFL’s biggest global brands, and the Saints carry natural ties to France because of New Orleans’ deep French roots. The cultural fit practically writes itself. Gumbo meets Primanti Bros. Paris might not know what hit it. And from a football standpoint, both teams enter 2026 carrying storylines.

Pittsburgh continues chasing stability in a brutally competitive AFC North, while the Saints are trying to climb back into relevance under Head Coach Kellen Moore after showing flashes late last season. Oh, and there’s still the giant cloud hovering over Pittsburgh: quarterback uncertainty.

With the Steelers, there’s always quarterback uncertainty until there suddenly isn’t. That franchise treats quarterback drama the same way some families treat holiday decorations. It just shows up every year whether anyone asked for it or not.

Steelers Fans Are About To Take Over Paris

You already know what is coming if this becomes official. “Terrible Towels” hanging from café balconies. “Here We Go” chants echoing through train stations. Somebody wearing a Troy Polamalu jersey inside the Louvre. It is inevitable. The Steelers fan base doesn’t attend road games. They occupy them.

International games are about more than football now. They’re marketing events. Brand expansion. Global reach. The Steelers check every box because their fan base travels louder and larger than almost anyone in the sport. Paris wanted a spectacle. The Steelers deliver spectacles.

Now the only thing left is the official schedule release. But if the leaks are accurate, the Steelers won’t just be playing football this October. They will be exporting Pittsburgh culture straight into the heart of France.
