Eagles Draft Biletnikoff Winner Lemon After Blockbuster Trade With Division Rival To 20

The Philadelphia Eagles traded with their arch-rival Dallas once again to go Wide Reciever just like they did in 2021, to jump the Giants to get DeVonta Smith. Now, five years later, they did it again as they drafted the reigning Biletnikoff winner, Makai Lemon from USC, with the 20th pick.

Philadelphia gave up 23, 114, and 137 to the Cowboys in the package to go grab the USC receiver, who is a stud. I was surprised he fell to 20 in the first place, because his talent is undeniable, especially when you look at the landscape.

In 2025, Makai Lemon had the best season of his career as he racked up 79 receptions for 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns to win the Biletnikoff award. This 5’11” receiver is a perfect example of a guy who will succeed in all shapes and forms on a football. He’ll line up on the outside, he’ll line up in the slot. It will be interesting to see how the Eagles plan on using him in this new look Philadelphia Offense led by Sean Mannion, especially with additions like Dontayvion Wicks and Hollywood Brown to go along with Smith and Dallas Goedert.

Daniel Jeremiah Compares Him to Julian Edelman: I LOVE THAT COMP!

NFL Network Analyst Daniel Jeremiah made a bold statement by comparing the former USC Wide Receiver. DJ compared Lemon to New England Patriots legend Julian Edelman. Funny that he used a Patriot to compare the 2025 Biletnikoff winner to, I will get into that in a later piece… Lemon and Edelman are definitely a similar type of mold of a player, as both guys did/can plenty of damage in the slot. I love that comp from the former Eagles scout on Philadelphia’s newest selection.

I’m So Stoked That He Fell to 20

I would’ve never thought that Lemon would fall into the range for Howie Roseman to work his magic in a trade to begin with, but as Lemon kept falling into range, Howie pounced to get the best available player on their board and grab another stud receiver to cope with the potential blow of AJ Brown being traded.

I love this move from Philadelphia, as they are trying to rebuild that receiver room once again, which will be underrated as Brown most likely leaves Philly in June. I will get more in-depth with the Brown situation and how the former USC receiver impacts that in my next article, which I will have soon.
