New York Knicks Point Guard Jalen Brunson Out At Least 2 Weeks

New York Knicks

New York Knicks Point Guard Jalen Brunson is expected to miss at least two weeks with an ankle sprain. He suffered the injury in last night’s OT loss against the Los Angeles Lakers. Brunson was having a great game before being injured. He scored 39 points and added 10 assists. Even though his MRI did not show any structural damage, he will still be sidelined for a few weeks.

Brunson is putting together another solid regular season. He is seventh in the league in points per game and eighth in assists. With Brunson’s status to be updated in two weeks, how will the New York Knicks fare without their best player?

New York Knicks Season Summary

Brunson has helped New York have one of the league’s best offenses this season. They are fifth in points per game, fourth in field goal percentage, and ninth in three-point percentage. New York is firmly entrenched as the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. They hold a 3.5-game lead over the Milwaukee Bucks for the fourth seed in the conference. That gives New York some margin of error as Brunson recovers and looks to return as soon as possible.

Final Thoughts

New York’s first game without Brunson will be tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers. With Brunson out for at least two weeks, New York will need to rely on their two marquee offseason acquisitions to shoulder the load on offense. Center Karl-Anthony Towns and Small Forward Mikal Bridges must produce to ensure New York is in a good spot once Brunson returns.
