New York Giants Players Experiencing Super Bowl Success Once Leaving Franchise

New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles Saquon Barkley

In a shocking trend over the last five seasons, a former New York Giants player has won the Super Bowl. Defensive End Jason Pierre-Paul won Super Bowl LV with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. won Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams, Wide Receiver Kadaruis Toney won Super Bowls LVII and LVIII with the Kansas City Chiefs, and Running Back Saquon Barkley won Super Bowl LIX as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Barkley winning the Super Bowl was the hardest of them all as he was a fan favorite. The NFL world saw the team choose to not re-sign during the offseason on “HBO Hard Knocks.” General Manager Joe Schoen came out looking the worst of anyone as it became clear he did not want Barkley back on the team. Will the New York Giants get anywhere near Super Bowl success in 2025?

New York Giants Season Summary

It was another rough season for the Giants. They missed the NFL Playoffs for the seventh time in the last eight seasons. New York also released Quarterback Daniel Jones whom they prioritized over Barkley following a playoff berth following the 2021-2022 season. That decision looked bad at the time. It looked even worse after how this season unfolded. After the team parted ways with Jones, they had a revolving door at the position which included Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito, and Tim Boyle. None of these quarterbacks played well. It resulted in a miserable 3-14 season.

One of the few positives for the New York Giants this year was the emergence of rookie Wide Receiver Malik Nabers. He finished the regular season fifth in receptions and seventh in receiving yards. He will be a piece the franchise will aim to build around for years.

Final Thoughts

New York had a chance at the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft but blew that opportunity with a meaningless victory against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17. New York ended with the No. 3 pick in April’s NFL Draft. Their first order of business is to find a quarterback as they look to rebuild.

Hopefully, the New York Giants have a solid offseason and it will not be six consecutive seasons where one of their former players wins a Super Bowl. They need to start having success so they could be the ones lifting the Lombardi Trophy sooner rather than later.
