New York Yankees Beat Baltimore Orioles 11-3 For Third Straight Win Against Divisional Foe

Apr 27, 2026; Arlington, Texas, USA; New York Yankees pitcher Max Fried (54) throws to home plate during the first inning against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field.

The Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles 11-3. They are rolling right now and have won 10 of their last 13 games. Max Fried started this game for them, so they felt good about getting a win today. It was a sunny and windy day at Yankee Stadium.

Trey Gibson made his major league debut as a pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. He was scheduled to make a start today for Norfolk. He generally pitched well, though he made a few mistakes and the Yankees made him pay. Do you think the Yanks will sweep Baltimore?

Yankees and Baltimore Orioles Game Summary

Ben Rice hit a big solo home run in the first inning. That gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead. He was 2-for-2, but then left the game injured. In the third inning. Baltimore tied the game at 1. Blaze Alexander singled, and Weston Wilson scored. In the third inning, Aaron Judge hit a two-run home run, and the team took a 3-1 lead.

Fried came out in the fourth inning and promptly loaded the bases. He was looking at his hand, and something was causing the wildness. He allowed a run, and it was 3-2. Then, Baltimore scored on a double play and tied the game at 3.

So, it was a new game for the youngster making his debut. However, the Yankees scored a run in the sixth inning. Then, Jasson Dominguez hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning. Following that, the Yankees loaded the bases. All three of those runners scored. It was 9-3 Yanks. Andrew Kittredge did not pitch well for Baltimore. He was replaced by Dietrich Enns, who was a Yankee long ago. The Yanks scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Bellinger’s Big Day and Now AL Best

Cody Bellinger had a huge day yesterday. He was 4-of-4 with 2 home runs and 4 runs batted in. He was a triple short of hitting for the cycle, but he made a few spectacular plays on defense to compensate. He is finally making good on his big free-agent contract. NY has ridden a hot streak to the best record in the American League.

The Dominance of Max Fried

The Yankees need to win as many of the starts by Fried as they can. They had confidence today, with Fried starting against a team that they dominated in the last two games. Fried has a microscopic .81 WHIP. That is great, but it is not as great as the WHIP by tomorrow’s starting pitcher, Cam Schlitlter. His WHIP is .74. Fried did not have his best stuff today.

He seemed to be battling some sort of blister on his throwing hand, and he had those problems last season. He left the game with the score tied at 3.

Volpe To Return

The Yankees expect Anthony Volpe back this week. His coming back creates a couple of dilemmas for the Yanks. First, to accommodate him, they must make a roster move. Max Schumann would be the logical candidate, although the team prizes his defensive diversity.

Second, the shortstop who filled in for him, Caballero, has played very well. It will be difficult to take this spark plug, who is a treat to steal every time he is on base.
