New York Mets Owner Steve Cohen Blamed For New York Knicks’ Crushing Game 2 Loss

Mets owner Steve Cohen stands on the field before a ceremony to honor first baseman Pete Alonso (not pictured) for breaking the Mets all time home run record before a game against the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field.

Whether it be on the hardwood or on the diamond, New York Mets Owner Steve Cohen has seen nothing but losses lately. His Mets are in the middle of an 11-game losing streak. So, what did Steve Cohen do with the Mets having a night off? He headed to Madison Square Garden to take in Game 2 between the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.

Unfortunately, for Steve Cohen, he witnessed a horrible collapse by the hometown team. The Knicks blew a 14-point lead, and one man is receiving much of the blame. That man is Steve Cohen. He is being accused of being a jinx to the team. Social media lit up last night with Knicks fans calling Steve Cohen a “curse.” They wanted him to stay as far away from MSG as possible, not sit courtside. Is Steve Cohen really to blame for a crushing Game 2 loss?

Steve Cohen Looks To Calm Mets Fans Down

Cohen took to X last week to try to talk the Mets fans off the proverbial ledge. He posted about “some green shoots” from another crushing loss. It is safe to say that Cohen’s message did not have the desired impact.

The Mets are still winless and are losing in heartbreaking fashion. New York lost on a walk-off sacrifice fly against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. The Mets franchise always finds new ways to lose. The start of the 2026 regular season has given that take validity.

Where Will We See Steve Cohen Next?

It is safe to say that neither Mets nor Knicks fans want to see Cohen at Citi Field or Madison Square Garden anytime soon. The billionaire owner should watch the games from the comfort of his own home. He is a pariah all over the state of New York that no fanbase wants to see entering their arena.
