The Jacksonville Jaguars had a busy Thursday where they massively overhauled their team. Jacksonville’s day started by trading away Wide Receiver Christian Kirk to the Houston Texans. They then announced they would release Tight End Evan Engram, Special Teams standout Devin Duvernay, Wide Receiver Josh Reynolds, and Cornerback Ronald Darby. Center Mitch Morse also announced his retirement from the NFL.
All of these players played crucial roles for the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2024-25 regular season and have done so for many years. These players must all be replaced by the franchise this offseason. Will these moves lead to success on the field for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2025?

Jacksonville had a disappointing regular season. They finished 4-13 and have the No. 5 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The terrible year led to the team firing Head Coach Doug Pederson after the season. Jacksonville hired former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offensive Coordinator Liam Coen as their next head coach.Â
The most important thing for the Jaguars next season is Quarterback Trevor Lawrence being healthy. He underwent shoulder surgery in December. Lawrence is expected to be fully healthy for the team’s offseason program. Even when the former No. 1 pick was healthy, he did not play up to his full potential in 2024. The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Lawrence to a lucrative contract extension in June. He will need to play far better to live up to the contract.
Final Thoughts
The Jacksonville Jaguars will look like a much different team next season. They parted ways with multiple veterans and traded away one of their best wide receivers. With so much uncertainty at the wide receiver position, Brian Thomas Jr. is set up for a monster sophomore campaign. Jacksonville is looking to get back on the winning track sooner rather than later.
