Ricky Saints’ Main Roster Shock Incoming? WWE Future Sparks Major SmackDown Buzz
Ricky Saints has become one of the most talked-about names amid ongoing speculation about a possible move from WWE NXT to the main roster. After this past Tuesday’s WWE NXT episode, fans speculated that Saints could be on his way to SmackDown, perhaps as soon as this Friday.
The speculation grew when Saints was scheduled for a singles match against Shiloh Hill next Tuesday. Saints also assaulted Hill later in the show, setting up a tense clash between the two. The storyline implied that Ricky has more to do in NXT, but according to sources, Saints’ future may lie with WWE’s main roster very soon.
Sources Reportedly Discussing Main Roster
Sources within WWE have stated that internal discussions have already taken place regarding promoting Saints to the main roster. The report also pointed out that hesitation about his move to the main roster may be due to The CW network, which airs NXT, wanting to retain at least one male veteran on the roster.
With several notable departures already taking place this year, Saints is believed to fill that role currently. As a result, WWE may need to balance creative plans for Ricky with the network’s interest in maintaining star power on NXT.
NXT Has Already Lost Several Key Names
The brand has undergone major changes in recent months. Earlier this year, NXT reportedly lost the presence of Oba Femi, Je’Von Evans, and Trick Williams. In addition, Monday Night RAW recently added former NXT North American Champion Ethan Page. Reports also suggest Joe Hendry could soon be moving on as well, with the popular star scheduled to host a concert segment on RAW next Monday.
With so many recognizable names leaving or transitioning elsewhere, Saints has become one of the most prominent male stars still associated with NXT. That factor may explain why some within WWE and broadcast partners would prefer to keep him on the brand a little longer.
Strong Run Since WWE Arrival
Ricky debuted in WWE NXT in Feb. 2025 and quickly established himself as one of the brand’s top performers. Since arriving, he has captured both the NXT North American Championship and the NXT Championship, proving himself as one of the most successful recent additions to the roster.
His charisma, in-ring ability, and growing popularity have made him a natural candidate for promotion to RAW or SmackDown. Many fans believe his confidence and presentation would translate well to the larger stage of the main roster.
SmackDown Appearance Still Possible
WWE confirmed the debut of Ricky Saints through an official video package that aired during the April 24, 2026, episode of SmackDown. WWE has often used the post-premium live event season to refresh its rosters, introduce new stars, and create momentum heading into the next cycle of storylines. Saints would fit naturally into that strategy. At the same time, his scheduled match against Shiloh Hill next Tuesday suggests WWE still has plans for him within NXT, at least in the short term.
Ricky Saints is in a tricky spot. He is good enough to move up to the main roster, but not so good that he may not yet be ready to leave. Whether he makes his main roster debut on SmackDown, moves to RAW, or stays in NXT for a few more months, it seems only a question of time before WWE makes a big decision on his future. In the meantime, everyone will be following Ricky’s move.
