A rematch with Roach was planned, but these plans were put on hold as Davis began looking elsewhere, including talks with Jake Paul for an exhibition fight that never happened.

Outside issues have also affected Davis’ career. The World Boxing Association (WBA) recently declared him “champion in recess,” which is a term used to describe a boxer who has been inactive for a long period but still holds a title.
During this period, he also faced allegations of domestic violence from his former partner, Courtney Rossel, which further complicated discussions about his return.
