Becky Lynch Retains Women’s Intercontinental Title After Chaotic Raw Showdown With Iyo Sky

Kelani Jordan has her sights set on Becky Lynch.

Becky Lynch left last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw still holding the Women’s Intercontinental Championship after escaping with a controversial victory over Iyo Sky in a hard-fought battle. They started strong for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship title, and soon it turned out to be one of the best matches of the night, as fans saw interruptions by other wrestlers. The match offered top-notch action from both wrestlers and added to several feuds in WWE’s women’s division.

Becky Lynch Starts Raw With Cocky Challenge

The segment started with Becky Lynch coming to the ring to discuss her win at WrestleMania 42 against AJ Lee. Lynch, who holds the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, boasted about her recent success and claimed that no other wrestler was performing at her level. She then called out a challenge to any woman in the ring, but explained that she preferred to fight someone who was “new and shiny.” Less than a minute later, Iyo Sky responded to the challenge, much to the crowd’s excitement.

Lynch immediately tried to make excuses and call Sky out with derogatory statements. Iyo responded by slapping the champion in the face, bringing the match to a head. Then, Adam Pearce, General Manager of WWE’s Raw brand, entered the ring and declared the match would be for the title, leaving Lynch with no choice.

Championship Match Delivers Fast-Paced Action

Once the bell rang, both competitors attacked each other quickly. Lynch started the match with intensity and quickly took control by planting IYO Sky with a sharp German suplex. However, Sky took control quickly by targeting Lynch’s arm against the top rope before connecting with a perfectly timed missile dropkick.

The match then moved outside the ring, where Sky delivered one of the most dangerous moments of the contest. She hit a sunset flip powerbomb from the ring apron down to the floor, stunning both Lynch and the audience. Sky continued the attack moments later with a spectacular Asai Moonsault over the top rope. During the sequence, one of her shoes came off, quickly drawing attention online.

Momentum Swings Late

When Lynch got back in the ring, she looked ready to put it away with her signature “Manhandle Slam,” but Sky escaped at the last second. She answered with a thunderous powerbomb that nearly earned her the championship.

Both women continued exchanging blows in a physically demanding battle, and neither gave up easily. The crowd was chanting for the whole time as the match came to a close.

Trying To Secure the Win

Before Sky could execute her finishing move, mayhem broke out. While the referee was distracted, Asuka suddenly emerged and took SKY down from the third rope. The interference changed everything. Lynch seized the opportunity and slammed Sky with the “Manhandle Slam,” pinning her to defend the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

Post-Match Attack Sparks Crowd Reaction

Once the match was over, Asuka continued to attack Sky. The “Asuka Lock” was applied and held until Sky was unconscious in the middle of the ring. The Laredo fans reacted by chanting for Kairi Sane and demanding assistance to stop Asuka’s assault. As Becky Lynch is still the champion, Iyo Sky is engaged in a feud with Asuka, and the crowd is chanting for Sane, there are plenty of storylines for the women in the weeks ahead.
