Denver Nuggets Center Nikola Jokic With Historic 2024-25 Season

Nuggets

Denver Nuggets Center Nikola Jokic is adding to his already splendid resume during the 2024-25 regular season. He is third in the league in points, third in rebounds, and second in assists. It is not just that Jokic is doing everything well this season, it is how he is shooting the ball. Jokic is shooting a whopping 56.9% from the field and 46.8% from three-point range. If Jokic ends the season with these figures he would make NBA history.

No player in NBA history has finished a season with shooting splits of 55%/45% or higher with at least 150 three-point attempts. Will Jokic be able to finish the regular season with these historic statistics while the Denver Nuggets look to shoot up the Western Conference standings?

Nikola Jokic Career Summary

Jokic is already one of the best players in NBA history. He is a six-time NBA All-Star, named to six All-NBA teams, a three-time NBA MVP, and won the 2023 NBA Championship. Jokic was named the Finals MVP to cap off the Denver Nuggets’ championship run. He should arguably be going for his fifth straight NBA MVP, but he will have to settle for winning the award in three of the last four seasons. Jokic has the second-best odds to win this year’s MVP. He is behind OKC Point Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Philadelphia 76ers Center Joel Embiid was named the 2022-2023 MVP in what amounted to essentially a sympathy vote. Jokic would win his first NBA title later that year while Embiid had a mediocre playoff run that ended in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Jokic has been a triple-double machine throughout his NBA career, and this year is no different. He leads the league by a sizable margin with 22 triple-doubles.

Denver Nuggets Season Summary

Denver has had a strong first half of the regular season. They are 30-19 and occupy the fourth seed in the Western Conference. The Nuggets have been led by a tremendous offense this season. They are third in points per game, leading the league in field goal percentage, leading the league in assists, and in the top 10 in rebounds. Point Guard Russell Westbrook has also experienced a career resurgence with the Denver Nuggets this season. He is 15th in assists and has three triple-doubles this year.

The issue for the Nuggets this season has been their defense. They are 25th in points allowed, 17th in opposing field goal percentage, and 17th in opposing three-point percentage. Denver’s strong offense, paired with a below-average defense, gives them the seventh-best point differential in the NBA. Denver’s championship pedigree gives them the fifth-best NBA Championship odds. An improved defense will increase their title odds considerably.

Final Thoughts

Jokic and the Denver Nuggets return to the court tonight when they host the New Orleans Pelicans. Denver hosts the Pelicans again on Wednesday. Jokic has the Nuggets in a great position a little past the halfway point of the regular season. He is having a historic regular season, and if he can keep it up, could bring another championship to “The Mile High City.”
