Georgia, at number three, is the highest seed left. There were eight teams in Omaha; there are seven now. There are several Cinderella stories left in the tournament, including Troy, who was unseeded, and West Virginia, which has a great home tradition and a lot of momentum. At this point, the best way to summarize the College World Series is to recap the action for the first three days and detail what is on tap for today. Here are the games that have taken place; there have been six.

There were two games on Friday. North Carolina beat Ole Miss 6-2. That game was a 1-1 tie until the Tarheels pulled away in the seventh inning. West Virginia beat Troy 7-5 in the other game. Both of those teams are noteworthy stories, with the Mountaineers having a great home-field tradition and Troy being the lowest-ranked team in the tournament. This game was close until North Carolina scored two runs in the last inning.

On Saturday, Georgia beat Texas 7-1. Georgia scored in the first inning, and that was all they needed to seal the win and send Texas to the losers’ bracket. Oklahoma did the same to Alabama, sending them to the losers’ bracket with a resounding 9-0 win. This game was never that close, with the Sooners jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

On Sunday, North Carolina surprisingly beat West Virginia, 5-2. The Tar Heels scored three runs in the seventh inning to win the game. In the second game, Troy continued their run and eliminated Ole Miss. The score of the game was 12-8. Ole Miss took a 6-2 lead, but Troy came back.

The winners and losers’ brackets in the College World Series are filling up, and there is more great action on tap for today. Alabama faces Texas in an elimination game that is taking place between two ranked teams. That game is at 2 pm. Georgia can move through with a win over Oklahoma at 7 pm. The Bulldogs have the most talented team in the tournament, so it makes sense that they would leave.

By Wednesday, we will know which two teams are in the final series of the College World Series. It is fair to wonder which teams will be remaining. It is difficult to come out of the losers’ bracket to win the tournament.
