The Catholic University spring 2026 track team was successful at the Morgan State Legacy meet in Baltimore. Athletes set several season and personal bests at the meet. This was the goal as the Cardinals are seeking to sharpen the sword heading into the conference and NCAA championships.

This was an important meet for the athletes from Catholic University. It occurred near the end of their spring track schedule. The only meets that remain for the Cardinals are the Penn Relays (twice) and the Carpenter/Case Invitationals. Then the team competes in the Landmark Conference and NCAA Championships. How do you think the team will do in these events?

One of the best things about college athletics is that the athletes constantly challenge themselves. This happened today for Catholic University, as several athletes set season and personal bests. Here they are, in the order in which they ran.

Malachi McIver set a personal best in the preliminaries of the 100-meter race. So did Brandon Hancock. Also in the sprints, Lauryn Pearson secured a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles. In the men’s race, Gabe Devaney got a personal best. There were three bests in the women’s 400-meter race. Zoe Brown got a season best, and both Riley Walsh and Corina Colmenares Bittar got personal bests.

In the men’s 400-meter race, there were two personal bests and two season bests set. The personal bests were set by Sean Owens and Romell Randolph. Season bests were set by Colin Matthews and Gabe Stypul in the men’s 400-meter hurdles got a season best. In the women’s version of the race, Brigid Byrnes and Mia McConnell did so. Those are both in the Division Three records book. Alicia Vo also had a season’s best in that race. A personal best was set by Keira Webster.

In the men’s 1500-meter race, both David Strango and Joshua Leon set season bests. In the women’s 1500-meter race, there were three personal bests set. Catholic University distance runners Olivia Sobkowicz, Sara Roberts, and Garet Glen were the authors of those times.

In the women’s 800-meter race, Bridgid Cavanaugh got a personal best, and so did Erin Roche and Kate Hannon. In the men’s 800-meter race, Kendrick Dupree got a personal best, and so did Michael Burnet.

In the women’s 200-meter race, three Catholic University athletes ran personal bests: Koutney Clipper, Sarah Schumacher, and Erin Buckley. Clipper now owns the 19th fastest Division Three time. In the Men’s 5000-meter race, Daniel Ponciano set a new personal record.

In the field events, there were comparatively fewer bests set by the team. Anthony Escudiero of Catholic University got a personal best in the long jump. In the women’s long jump, Alyssa Oscar set a new personal best.

In the men’s pole vault, Christian Di Nicolantonio got a new personal best, which is the 50th-best time in Division Three history. Charles Conelley got a season’s best. Anthony Escuadro got his second personal best of the day.

Finally, the men’s and women’s 4×400 relay teams both got season bests; The men had the 48th best time in D III this year, the women had the 40th best D III time of the year. Catholic University Cross Country and Track Coach Steve Rann said, “It was wonderful celebrating with our wonderful seniors and seeing a lot of their families.”
