Catholic University 2026 Winter Track Sets More Personal Bests In the Father Diamond Classic

Catholic University; The field takes off in the boys 1600 meter run during the DIAA state high school indoor track championships at the Ott Center at the University of Pennsylvania, Feb. 21, 2026. Catholic University did not run in this meet.

Catholic University continued its successful march to the Landmark Conference Championships next weekend at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania. Personal bests were set both on the track and in the field by Cardinal athletes.

There was also great diversity in the achievements between male and female Catholic University athletes and among stars and less heralded team members. Over the last three track meets, the coaching staff has given athletes on the team off. Do you think the Cardinal athletes are well-prepared for their conference championships?

Meter Race Results

Patrick Morris was third in the 3000-meter race with a new personal best time of 9:28.46. Daniel Ponciano came in fourth and also logged a personal best with his time of 9:30.23. Catholic University had three runners in the mile, and two of them set personal bests. Tim Brown recorded the fastest time of 4:42.32. Shane Waring had a personal best with 4:43.92. Matt Haugh also set a personal best.

Matthew McCormack was the only Catholic University athlete in the 1000 meters, finishing in 3:00.29. In the 800-meter race, Kendrick Dupree got a time of 1:58.06. Peter Winter ran 1:58.56, and Augustine Howard received a time of 1:59.24, which was a personal best.

Mark Indelicato raced 53.29 in the 400-meter for Catholic University. Gabe Devaney was close to him with a time of 54.27. Josh Phillips ran yet another personal best in the event with 56.44.

Breaking Down The Hurdles

In the 60-meter hurdles, Drew Madden finished as the top Division III runner with a time of 8.87 seconds. Nathan Chaney got a personal best time of 8.89, good for fifth in the Catholic University record books. Josh Phillips also set a personal best with a time of 9.33, the ninth-best in program history. Gabe Devaney ran a time of 9.42 seconds.

Colin Matthews had a season-best time of 24.41 in the 200-meter race. In the field, Quinn Brubaker jumped 5.62 meters in the long jump, and Nick Chang was close behind him with a jump of 5.10 meters. He also had a triple jump of 12.12 meters.

In the pole vault, Anthony Escuadro vaulted 3.40 meters. Drew Madden placed first in the high jump, jumping 1.90 meters. Brubaker was only a tenth of a meter behind him at 1.80 meters. For Catholic University athletes, the shot put was in the shot put.

Warren Gillis threw the longest with a distance of11.58 meters. Ethan Carmichael, 10.35 meters, Benjamin Warr, 10.01 meters, and Mark Enamorado, 9.68 meters. Warr threw the weight 12.69 meters, a new personal best and the seventh-best in the University record books. Enamorado had a season-best throw of 12.41 meters.

Women’s Catholic University Turnout

For the women, Isabel Doran (12:14.21) and Garet Glenn (13:01.29) ran for Catholic University in the 3000-meter run. Glenn’s time was a new personal best. Freshman Sara Roberts was the only Catholic University athlete to compete in the mile. Her time of 6:00.45 was a personal best.

Mya Sampong was fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:22.17, a personal best and sixth on the University record books. Alexa Grassi finished in 2:35.18. Rachel Sprauer was in the 400-meter race as well. She was with teammate Riley Walsh. Sprauer ran a season-best time of 1:04.21. Walsh ran a time of 1:03.23.

There were 5 Cardinals in the 200-meter race. Felicity Giampietro led the group from Catholic University with a season-best 27.67. Ainsely Reisman ran 28.16. Riley Walsh and Catalina Zumbado both earned personal bests, running 28.59 and 30.70, respectively. Emily McDermond finished with a time of 31.16.

Reisman, Giampietro, and Zumbado all reached the finals of the 60-meter race. Reisman finished fourth in the finals with a personal-best time of 8.28, eighth on the University record books. Giampietro had a season best 8.46, and Zumbado finished with a personal best 9.12.

Finally, in the 60-meter hurdles, Rachel Sprauer set a personal best with 10.23 seconds, which was tenth in program history. Corina Colmenares Bittar also competed with a season-best time of 10.66 in the event.

Parting Shots

Catholic University is in good shape for the Conference championships next weekend. Head Coach Steve Rahn said, “The team looked sharp heading in the right direction before the championships.”

In the long jump, Kate Quashne finished first with a distance of 4.78m. Erin Driscoll posted a distance of 4.43m, a season best. Alyssa Oscar reached 4.26m. Oscar also competed in the triple jump with a distance of 8.78m. Pauline Kennedy reached a height of 1.35m in the high jump.

The freshman also earned a personal record in the shot put, posting a distance of 10.56m. This distance places her eighth in the event in program history. Bethany Riddle also earned a personal best distance of 9.50m in the shot put. Additionally, Riddle reached 11.22m in the weight throw. Kaelyn Boodlal threw 8.95m in the shot put.
