Carolina Panthers Quarterback Bryce Young Dazzles In Week 18

Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers Quarterback Bryce Young had the best game of his career and made franchise history in Week 18 against the Atlanta Falcons. He finished the game 25-of-34 with 3 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns. He was the first quarterback in Carolina Panthers franchise history to throw 3+ touchdowns and rush for 2 more in a single game. Young finished the regular season with 15 passing touchdowns and 9 interceptions but looked like a much different quarterback ending the year as the one that started it.

Young was benched by Head Coach Dave Canales earlier in the season but found his footing in the second half. He was tied for the league lead with four games with a passing and rushing touchdown since December. Young had 11 passing touchdowns and 3 interceptions over his final eight games this season as Carolina went 3-5 over their final eight games as Young showcased his potential. Will Young’s strong finish to the season lead to improved results on the field in 2025?

Carolina Panthers Season Summary

Carolina(5-12) ended the season on a high note winning two of their final three games. The team is slated to draft No. 8 in April’s NFL Draft. The team’s offense was 29th in yards per game and 23rd in points scored. Carolina has a few offensive pieces to build around alongside Young. Running Back Chuba Hubbard and Wide Receiver Xavier Legette should both factor into the Carolina Panthers plans for years to come.

Carolina’s defense was the worst in the league this season. They were 32nd in yards allowed and 32nd in points allowed. While Young and the Carolina offense made strides in the second half, their defense remained a horrific unit. Young’s performance yesterday was the lone reason Carolina pulled out a 44-38 OT win on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. He drove Carolina 70 yards down the field to win the game and cap off the 2024-25 season in style.

Final Thoughts

Young was drafted No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Alabama. With a Heisman Trophy in the collegiate ranks, Young looked like a great NFL prospect. Instead, he looked like a bust through his first 20 career games. He seemingly turned a corner over the final half of the regular season. That is a spectacular sign for the Carolina Panthers franchise.

In just a few months, Young went from a bust to breaking franchise records. He must continue to improve during the offseason to ensure the progress made this season does not fall by the wayside next season.
