Former Cy Young Winner Trevor Bauer Tosses No-Hitter As Member Of Long Island Ducks
Trevor Bauer just sent a very loud message to every front office in Major League Baseball. Whether anyone is willing to listen, however, remains the ultimate question.
On Sunday, April 26, 2026, the 35-year-old former Cy Young winner took the mound for the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League and did what he does best: dominate hitters. Bauer spun a seven-inning no-hitter, completely suffocating the Lancaster Stormers in a 13-0 blowout victory. It was only his second start on American soil since 2021, and the polarizing right-hander made sure it was one for the history books.
Trevor Bauer Dominates the Lancaster Stormers
If you were looking for signs of rust, you were looking in the wrong place. Bauer was a machine on the bump. He carved through the Lancaster lineup, retiring the first 15 batters he faced before issuing a lone walk to Kevin Watson Jr. in the sixth inning. That was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect afternoon.
Bauer needed just 84 pitches, 54 of them for strikes, to finish off the Stormers. He struck out seven batters along the way, cementing his name in the local record books by throwing just the third no-hitter in the history of the Long Island Ducks franchise. For a guy fighting tooth and nail to keep his baseball dreams alive, it was a vintage performance.
Sarcasm, Vlogs, and “Massively Overstated” Fears
Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Bauer took to social media immediately after the game to take a victory lap. Leaning heavily into his trademark sarcasm, he posted on his popular X account, “Trevor Bauer sucks so much. He’s so washed.”
The chip on his shoulder is practically visible from orbit at this point. In a YouTube vlog documenting his return to American baseball, Bauer addressed the noise surrounding his comeback. After serving a 194-game suspension in 2022 over sexual assault allegations, allegations he has vehemently denied, leading to no criminal charges and settled civil claims, many assumed his presence would cause a media circus.
Bauer was quick to point out the reality of the situation. “I didn’t hear any negative comments. There was no protests,” Bauer said in his vlog. “Nothing blew up. There was no meteor that hit the stadium. Apparently, those fears have been massively overstated, I think. Imagine that I can pitch in America and not have massive protests and get cancelled and whatever else.”
The Long Road Through Japan and Mexico
The path back to a mound in New York has been anything but conventional for Bauer. After being officially released by the Los Angeles Dodgers in Jan. 2023, he packed his bags for an international baseball odyssey.
He spent the 2023 season in Japan with Yokohama, posting a 4-10 record with a 4.41 ERA. Looking to regain his elite form, he shifted to the Mexican Baseball League in 2024, joining the Diablos Rojos. Down in Mexico, Bauer found his groove again, absolutely terrorizing hitters and taking home the league’s Pitcher of the Year honors. After another brief stint in Japan in 2025, he finally found his way back to the United States with the Ducks.
What Does the Future Hold For Bauer?
At 35 years old, time is not exactly a luxury Bauer possesses. Athletic mortality comes for every pitcher, even those with elite arsenals. But from a pure talent standpoint, Sunday’s no-hitter proves that his arm still has plenty of life left in it.
He wants to be back in the big leagues. He believes he belongs in the big leagues. The Long Island Ducks are giving him the platform to showcase that his stuff is still major-league caliber, and performances like this certainly turn heads.
The real test now is whether a Major League general manager is willing to look past the controversy, read the box score, and offer Trevor Bauer the second chance he so desperately craves. Until then, he will just keep striking guys out in the Atlantic League.
