Buckeyes abound, get used to it. As many as 17 Ohio State Buckeye football players may get picked in the upcoming NFL Draft. This would shatter the record of 15 set by Georgia in 2022. No college football team has had as many as 16 players drafted. The Buckeyes may have as many as nine first-round draft picks. The Buckeyes will wear out a path to National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell. Do you hope your team drafts one or more of these Buckeyes?
Buckeyes May Shatter Record
The Buckeyes may get as many as 17 players drafted in the upcoming draft. This would shatter the record of players drafted from one college, since the draft moved to seven rounds in 1994. Ohio State held the record before this with 14 Buckeyes selected in the 2002 NFL Draft. Louisiana State also had 14 players selected in 2020.
Some other big draft totals from one school also include. The University of Michigan in 2024, the University of Alabama, in 2018, and Ohio State, in 2016. They all had 12 players selected in the NFL Draft.
There are six schools that have had eleven players drafted by the NFL: University of Miami (2012), University of Oklahoma (2015), University of Southern California (2005), Florida State University, twice (2013, 2014), and Michigan (2017). There are some pre-1994 NFL draft numbers. They include the University of Texas, with 17 in 1984, Notre Dame with 16 in 1946 and 15 in 1945, and USC with 14 in 1953.
Which Ohio State Football Players May Get Drafted?
The Buckeyes may have nine first-round draft picks and 17 draft picks overall. The potential first-round picks are Defensive Lineman J.T. Tuimoloau, Wide Receiver Emeka Ebuka, Offensive Lineman Donovan Jackson, Cornerback Denzel Burke, Defensive lineman Tyleik Williams, Safety Jordan Hancock, Defensive Lineman Jack Sawyer, Offensive Lineman Josh Simmons, and Running Back Quinshon Judkins.
The eight likely Ohio State football players to get drafted include Running Back Trevyon Henderson, Quarterback Will Howard, Tight End Gee Scott Jr., Offensive Lineman Seth McLaughlin, Linebacker Cody Simon, Safety Lathan Ransom, Linebacker/Safety C.J. Hicks, and Defensive Lineman Ty Hamilton.
That is a boatload of Buckeyes that could be drafted into the NFL. It is without question that the Ohio State Football team is talented. They did win the College Football National Championship. Many players on that team have the skills the NFL craves.
Plans
Total Apex sports will publish a detailed scouting report on all Buckeye potential first rounders in the next few days. They warrant this as the nine first round selections would be unprecedented. As many as 17 Buckeyes could get drafted. It is probably the case that some of the other players likely to go at the top of the NFL draft require articles.
Conclusion
Of course, nothing is guaranteed, and we have seen players who thought they would go at the top of the draft sit in the “green room” for hours as they fell. Seventeen Buckeyes may not get drafted, or more than nine may get picked in the first round, we simply do not know. It is even the case that some of the Ohio State football players who are not currently projected as first round draft picks may sneak in there. We will see at the draft on April 25.
