The Masters is one of the year’s most highly anticipated sporting events. The iconic location, paired with historic moments, makes this a must-see event. First round action is expected to start Thursday morning, but due to some heavy rains, there may be delays.

April showers bring May flowers. The official Masters X account posted this evening that gate openings will be delayed due to the weather forecast. There is a storm system moving through early in the morning, and it could delay the honorary group’s teeing off at 7:40 am. While the weather can change, the Weather Channel predicts a 99% chance of thunderstorms tomorrow.
This wouldn’t be the first time The Masters has been delayed for rain. Last year, the second and third rounds were suspended due to weather. Tournament officials are well-versed in getting everyone caught up and keeping the event running on schedule.
When Will The Masters Resume?
The good news is after the storms move through, the weather looks great. Storms should be done by 2 pm, and the tournament can get underway. It is the players who will have to adapt. While tournament officials will attempt to get the entire first round in on Thursday, some players might have to suspend their round due to darkness. Many players have a rhythm, and having to stop and start a round can be a disadvantage.
This is part of playing in The Masters and, frankly, any golf tournament. Players will have to overcome adversity and play through the elements. It will be interesting to see how certain players are affected tomorrow when the historic tournament finally does get underway.
