Sheffield United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Sheffield United will play against Tottenham Hotspur at Bramall Lane for the final fixture of the Premer League campaign this season.

Sheffield United come into this game on the back of a 1-0 loss against Everton at the Goodison Park. Brerenton Diaz had a total of three shots in this game but was unable to find the back of the net. Gustavo Hamer was effective in midfield for the Blades but he was unable to impact the match as much as he would want to. Wesley Foderingham was brilliant in goal and had 6 saves.

Tottenham lost 0-2 to Man City in their last home match of the season. Son Heung-Min missed a one-on-one chance at the end of the game before Haaland scored the second goal for City. Micky Van De Ven started at left-back and produced a decent performance.

It was a record-setting 101 goals allowed by Sheffield United at Goodison Park in the penultimate Premier League weekend. Everton beat the Blades with a single header from Abdoulaye Doucoure, sending them back to Bramall Lane empty-handed once more. If Chris Wilder’s team had been able to end Everton’s amazing home-winning streak, they would have only gained personal pride. They are still at the bottom of the standings and will stay there no matter what happens in Sunday’s 4 pm games.

Wilder’s team is already making plans for another promotion push in 2024–25. If they fail, at least they won’t have the unflattering title of being the worst Premier League team ever; that title still belongs to Derby County in 2007–08.

Although Spurs may not have anything to fight for this season, it is undeniable that Ange Postecoglou has a solid foundation to work with, despite their lackluster performance in the 2023/24 season. Returning to the Europa League next season should be seen as a great achievement. If they suffer a loss on Sunday, they could potentially be overtaken in the standings by their London counterparts, Chelsea.

Spurs won 2-1 the last time these two sides met in December 2023. Richarlison and Kulusevski scored very late-minute goals to secure three points for Ange Postecoglou. Gustavo Hamer scored for Sheffield United in the 73rd minute to give the Blades the lead. Tottenham have won three of the last five encounters between these two sides and Sheffield United won the other two.

Injury Report

After having to use a substitute defense at Goodison Park, Wilder will have two center-backs to choose from again. Mason Holgate couldn’t play against his parent club last weekend, while Anel Ahmedhodzic is back from suspension. Andre Brooks and Oliver Arblaster should get over the injuries that kept them out of the game against Everton. George Baldock, John Egan, Daniel Jebbison, Tom Davies, Ben Osborn, Chris Basham, Oli McBurnie, Rhys Norrington-Davies (thigh), and Max Lowe (ankle) will be unable to play today.

Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Manor Solomon, Fraser Forster, Destiny Udogie, Ryan Sessegnon, Ben Davies, and Timo Werner, are injured and will watch from the bench. Giovani Lo Celso is currently uncertain to play due to a knee injury.
