Washington Commanders 2024 Outlook: Can Washington Recreate A Ruined Foundation

Washington Commanders

After the Washington Commanders released their 2024 schedule, they will start the season off at Tampa Bay against the Buccaneers. Washington is in its second year of new ownership by Josh Harris and is still rebuilding.

This season, the Commanders are looking to see a new foundation after selecting their quarterback of the future. With the Commanders hiring a new head coach, quarterback, and system, Washington could be intriguing looking forward. While the team is still weak, they could have some upset wins this season.

Another thing that the Commanders will need to do is see how the new defensive system under Dan Quinn would work out. For the Commanders to have a bit of success they need to see if the defense could improve.

Washington is still having a long rebuild, but they have the foundations to get something good from the rot of the past 30 years.

Washington Commanders: Easiest Stretch

The Washington Commanders this season will be a long season starting against a good Bucs team. There will be a point in the season where it could get easier for the Commanders in October. During that stretch, the Commanders will face the Browns, Ravens at Baltimore, Panthers, and Bears.

Cleveland will still have a strong defense, but the offense still has holes with Deshaun Watson coming off from injury. Washington could have a winnable game against the Browns if the defense could pick them apart.

The Ravens will be the only hard game for the Washington Commanders in that stretch but could pull an upset win. Dan Quinn and his zone defense could go well against the Ravens run offense.

Another winnable game for the Commanders is against the Panthers at home. Carolina is a clown show with David Tepper being the main clown. The Panthers are a mess and are looking to improve after last season and the Washington Commaders could beat them easily.

The last game that could be easy for Washington is against the Chicago Bears. While the Bears have improved greatly this offseason, they still have a weak coaching staff. Chicago will have Caleb Williams and a good offense around him but when the season starts, it will be different.

Washington Commanders: Most Difficult Stretch

While the Washington Commanders’ schedule for October is light, November is when the season starts for them. The games for the Commanders in November will be difficult with the Giants, Steelers, Eagles, and the Cowboys.

Washington will be away from FedEx and go to Jersey to face the Giants. Washington was swept by the Giants last season and it could repeat for them if things go right. While the Commanders have a better roster than last year, things could go wrong against the Giants’ defense.

Another difficult game for the Commanders will be against the Steelers and their strong defense. T.J. Watt is the anchor of the Steelers’ defense and could destroy the Commanders’ offensive line. While Jayden Daniels is a mobile quarterback, he must run if the Commanders’ offensive line isn’t improved.

The third game in this long November will be against the Philadelphia Eagles in Philly. This offseason, the Eagles improved their offense and defense for a deep playoff run. While the Commanders do play the Eagles hard, it will be more difficult with the Eagles’ improved coaching. The Commies must hope that everything goes right for a win in Philadelphia.

In the last game of this brutal November run, will be the Dallas Cowboys at home. The Cowboys have embarrassed the Commanders in the past two seasons and could do it again. With Micah Parson still being a beast and Dak wanting a new deal, they might play well against the Commanders.

Most Important Games

For the Washington Commanders to rebuild the foundations they must win these important games. The games will be against the Giants, Bears, Cowboys, and Eagles for progress to be made.

With the Giants going on a downhill this past season, the Commanders must beat their rivals to show they are back. The Giants swept them last season and ruined their playoff chances in 2022, so they need some payback.

Another important game for the Washington Commanders is against the Chicago Bears in a Jayden Daniels vs Caleb Williams match-up. This game will be important for the Commanders to showcase Daniels against the top quarterback prospect this season.

A third match-up important for the Washington Commanders is against the Dallas Cowboys at home. Dallas is desperate to make it to the NFC title game, and the Commanders could capitalize on it. It is also important for Dan Quinn to beat a team that he coached on to show that he wasn’t the problem.

The last game important to the Washington Commanders is against the Eagles at home in week 11. Last year, the Commanders took the Eagles to two close games but lost them. While both teams have flaws, it will be important to see the future hierarchy of the NFC East duel it out.
