Tiger Woods, a five-time Masters champion, will reportedly visit Augusta National Golf Club this weekend. He will scout the golf course ahead of this April’s tournament. The 2024 Masters will be Woods’ first tournament since the 2024 Genesis Invitational where he was forced to withdraw due to an illness.

Woods has not been shy about expressing his affinity for both this tournament and the golf course itself. He always tries to put himself in the best position to succeed at the season’s first major, and this weekend’s scouting mission is another example of just that. Woods traveled to Augusta in 2022 before making his return to competitive golf following a car accident in January of 2021. He would go on to finish 47th in 2022. Woods also visited the course before last year’s tournament. He was forced to withdraw during a rain-soaked four days in the “Peach State.”
What To Expect From Tiger Woods In April
Due to a variety of injuries, Woods has playing an increasingly spare schedule in recent years. Even when does play, Woods has struggled to make it through 72 holes. He has been forced to withdraw in three of his last five official PGA Tour events. With such a lack of competitive rounds under his belt, it will be an uphill battle for Woods at the 2024 Masters.
Woods’ game looked rusty at the 2024 Genesis Invitational, and with two months between tournaments, it is unclear how he will look either physically or game-wise once he arrives at Augusta National. Woods stated in February his desire to play once a month this PGA Tour season. The decision by Woods to not tee it up at the 2024 Players Championship set off alarm bells around the golf world. The Players Championship is the PGA Tour’s marquee event and would have allowed Woods’ body ample time to recover for the 2024 Masters. No reason was given for his inability to play at TPC Sawgrass.
With his sights set on Augusta National, the all-time great will look to recapture the magic at a place he knows better than nearly any player in the field.
The 2024 Masters will take place from April 6-April 9, 2024.
