Tiger Woods is one of the greatest golfers in history. The tournament he has dominated the most is The Masters. Many of his iconic moments have come at Augusta National. With his second-round performance on Friday, Woods set another record.
Tiger Woods Adds To Records At The Masters
Woods has had five wins at Augusta National. This year, many wondered whether he would even make the cut. He shot a one over 73 in the first round and followed it up with an even par round in a windy second round. He sits seven strokes back but made the cut. It is the 24th consecutive made cut for the legendary golfer. This is the most by a player in Masters history.
Tiger Woods was tied with Fred Couples (1983-2007) and Gary Player (1959-82) but now holds the longest streak of cuts made. It is another accolade in a long list of accomplishments in his career. It is hard to make the cut consistently in golf. One bad hole can destroy a round. Even as he struggles to make cuts in other tournaments, he remains consistent at Augusta National.
Can Tiger Woods Win It All Again?
He sits six shots back heading into the weekend. It isn’t an ideal position, but it is also not an impossible one. We’ve seen leaders collapse and surges happen on Saturday and Sunday. Woods feels confident about his chances.
“It means I have a chance going into the weekend. I’m here. I have a chance to win the golf tournament. I don’t know if they’re all going to finish today, but I’m done. I got my two rounds in. Just need some food and some caffeine, and I’ll be good to go.”
It was a long day for Woods as he had to complete his first round which had to be suspended because of darkness. For fans, it is simply great to see Tiger Woods be able to complete a round. Too often, he has had to withdraw because of injury. Can Woods make history and come from behind this weekend?
