The Jacksonville Jaguars hope to rebound in 2024. Houston took the division, and the Jaguars were on the outside looking in for the playoffs. In 2024, they are looking to reclaim the crown. It won’t be easy. Calvin Ridley left for Tennessee, but the team signed many pieces for free agency. They made another signing on Thursday to help fill out their roster. Former Green Bay Packers tight end Josiah Deguara has reportedly signed a one-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are adding a tight end with a lot of potential in Josiah Deguara. He was a third-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2020. The young tight end never tapped into his potential. He was brought in to be more of a blocking tight end but never looked comfortable in the offense. In the four years in Green Bay, he only had 436 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Part of his struggles may have been due to playing with Aaron Rodgers, who didn’t always connect well with rookies. However, Josiah Deguara didn’t help himself with his play on the field. He would consistently miss blocks, especially on special teams. Deguara was easily surpassed by Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft last season. The Jacksonville Jaguars hope they can get more out of the young tight end.
Jacksonville Jaguars 2024 Outlook
For years, the Jacksonville Jaguars had the easiest path to the playoffs. The AFC South has been one of the easiest divisions to win for a while. That is not the case anymore. Houston made some massive upgrades to their roster, and CJ Stroud looks like a franchise quarterback. The Colts and Titans aren’t projected to have winning records this year, but they are not pushovers. Tennessee made some big splashes in free agency and Anthony Richardson showed flashes of greatness last year before getting injured.
The Jacksonville Jaguars hope they can have a better year in 2024. The team underperformed last year, and there will be some pressure next season to be better, especially on offense.
