Terrell Suggs, a two-time Super Bowl winner and former linebacker with the Baltimore Ravens, was taken into custody late on Tuesday and jailed in the Maricopa County Jail.
The star defender from the Baltimore Ravens was arrested in Arizona on suspicion of assault. He is accused of two counts: a misdemeanor intimidation charge and felony disorderly conduct with a firearm charge. The former Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year for Arizona State was jailed; however, a representative for the jail confirmed that he was later released from detention following a brief court hearing.
The event happened on March 10, 2024, when he and the victim got into a verbal fight at a Starbucks drive-thru. According to the police report, the all-pro threatened to murder the victim.
What Led to the Former Ravens Arrest?
According to court documents, Suggs was the suspected aggressor in a road rage incident that occurred in Scottsdale, AZ.
The incident occurred on March 10 at roughly 12:30 p.m. at a Starbucks drive-thru, according to court filings.
According to the police, the former linebacker ignored the drive-thru speaker and drove his car past it.
He reportedly struck the front of a car that was following him in the drive-through after reversing his car to make an order. Police claim that no damage occurred to the other car.
Court records state that after getting out of their cars, he and the other motorist got into an argument. After returning to their cars, Suggs and the other motorists started fighting once more, according to the police.
According to the allegation, the Pro-Bowler threatened the victim by flashing a weapon through the open window of his car as he was leaving Starbucks.
Apparently, the other driver felt frightened, although Suggs did not aim the pistol directly at him, according to the police. After obtaining his license plate number, the other driver called the police to report the incident.
Police were able to collect footage of the confrontation from the victim’s vehicle’s dash camera after it happened.
Suggs allegedly shouted, “I’ll kill your (expletive) ass,” according to the police.
Suggs’ Side of the Story
The Super Bowl-winning linebacker claimed in a statement that he visited the Starbucks close to his house that afternoon. when the circumstance occurred with someone in the car behind him. Suggs said he was not seeking trouble; he was simply ordering coffee.
The former star PAC-10 star stated that the man in the other car intensified the conflict. Suggs expressed concern for his safety, saying he had no idea what the other person may do. Terrell said that HE was the one who felt intimidated throughout the event, thinking the guy may follow him home to his family.
A Legacy on the Field
Suggs was the latest member of the Baltimore Ravens to be inducted into the Ravens’ Ring of Honor. One of the most successful defensive players in NFL history, the linebacker is a two-time Super Bowl winner and seven-time Pro Bowler.
Originally selected by Baltimore with the tenth overall pick in the 2003 draft, he is now eighth in career sack totals (139) all-time and recorded double-digit sacks in seven separate seasons. In 2002, the linebacker was also selected as a first-team All-Pac-10 player, Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year, and a unanimous All-American at Arizona State.
