World Number 1 Scottie Scheffler fired a six-under par 66 to finish 14-under par as he cruised to victory at the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational. This is Scheffler’s seventh career PGA Tour win and his second time winning at Bay Hill. He previously won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2022 with a score of 13-under par. Sunday’s victory broke what was nearly a year-long winless drought for the best player in the world.
Scheffler entered the final round tied at nine-under with former Open champion Shane Lowry and a host of others were just a few shots back following the third round.
This victory comes with a $4,000,000 million paycheck for Scheffler. Scheffler now sits atop the FedEx Cup standings as well.
How Did The Players Chasing Scottie Scheffler Fare On Sunday
Scheffler was in firm control all day as he coasted to a five-shot victory. Out of 58 players, Scheffler was the only one who shot a bogey-free final round. Scheffler carded six birdies on Sunday. Scheffler’s final dropped shot of the week came after a bogey on hole 11 in the third round.
Lowry never got going on Sunday as he shot an even-par 72. Reigning US Open champion Wyndham Clark entered the final round just two rounds off the pace and shot a 2-under par 70 today to finish in solo second place.
Scheffler has played great this PGA Tour season, but his struggles on the greens kept him from being victorious. This week in Orlando, Florida Scheffler putted the best of any tournament this season. He finished first in Strokes Gained: Putting this week at 4.02.
As this graphic illustrates, Scheffler is extremely hard to beat when he has a good week with the flat stick.
Scheffler is on the positive side of strokes gained putting for the week.
His last 9 results when gaining strokes putting:
T3 – WM
T6 – Pebble
Win – Hero
T4 – Travelers
3rd – US Open
T2 – PGA

Where Will The PGA Tour Head Next
The PGA Tour heads to TPC Sawgrass next week for The Players Championship. This is the PGA Tour’s marquee event and always features one of the strongest fields of the year. Scheffler won this tournament in 2023 and will look to defend his title. One thing is for sure though, Scheffler will be riding high after a masterclass at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
