The New York Giants had a disappointing 2023 season, to say the least. After winning a playoff game the previous year, the wheels fell off the team this past season. They have to figure out how to be better in 2024 and find a path forward. The team is bringing back one of the bright spots on defense last year, former first-round pick Isaiah Simmons.
New York Giants Re-Sign Isaiah Simmons

Isaiah Simmons was the eighth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. The New York Giants were able to acquire him for a seventh-round pick last offseason. He had a solid year for the team. Simmons racked up 50 tackles, a sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and an interception. That interception was returned for a touchdown.
Versatility is the name of the game for Isaiah Simmons. He can line up at safety or linebacker, giving a defensive coordinator plenty of options. The New York Giants have a new defensive coordinator, Shane Bowen, and it will be interesting to see how he deploys Simmons.
New York Giants 2024 Outlook
This team is in a weird position. The New York Giants are locked into Daniel Jones for at least one more year. There have been rumors they are looking to move up for a quarterback. However, they could also nab one of the top wide receivers in the draft, something they desperately need. There is a lack of playmakers on the Giants and if this team is going to compete, they need players who make an impact.
The Isaiah Simmons signing probably isn’t moving the needle much for the 2024 season. However, he is a solid piece to have around, and he should be back on a cheap deal. The New York Giants hope he can continue to improve on last season’s success.
