LaVar Ball is not shy about sharing his opinion, especially when it concerns his sons. His youngest son, LaMelo Ball, is one of the brightest young stars in the game but struggles to stay on the court. After playing 75 games in his second season, he hasn’t played in half of the regular season games in the past two seasons. The senior Ball is blaming NBA trainers and Puma shoes for the injuries to his son.
LaVar Ball Slams NBA Trainers, Puma Shoes
LaVar Ball blames the NBA training staffs and Puma's 'raggedy' shoes for his sons' injuries
“The reason they hurt is because they got away from me. And they start doing these rooty-toot workouts. Because if you keep running them hills, you're going to keep that power and that… pic.twitter.com/fSRos0aq14

It is a classic LaVar Ball rant. This isn’t the first time he has gone off on NBA teams for the treatment of his sons, and he hasn’t held back on this one.
“The reason they hurt is because they got away from me. And they start doing these rooty-toot workouts. Because if you keep running them hills, you’re going to keep that power and that strength. But you start dealing with these rubber bands and doing this lightweight stuff, of course you’re going to start breaking down… A lot of things have to do with them raggedy shoes that Melo be wearing. Them shoes are not made the right way for him. That’s why he keeps tweaking his ankle every single time.”
Ball wants to see more rigorous workouts to keep LaMelo stronger. He also apparently wants him to change shoe companies. It will be interesting to see whether this is just LaVar Ball blowing off steam or a precursor of things to come.
LaVar Ball: Holes In The Argument
The quality of Puma I personally can’t attest to but there are many athletes who have deals with the shoe company who do not have problems. Michael Porter Jr., Kyle Kuzma, and Marcus Smart all have deals with Puma and have not experienced chronic ankle injuries. In terms of the NBA trainers, the Hornets are no more injured than the rest of the league.
Injuries are sometimes unlucky. Steph Curry was plagued with ankle injuries early in his career but hasn’t had issues since. It may simply be dumb luck, and later on in his career, he will be fine. LaVar Ball never misses an opportunity to steal the spotlight, and this is most likely the latest attempt to stay relevant.
