The Denver Broncos are picking up the pieces of the failed Russell Wilson experiment. This is now Sean Payton’s team. While we still don’t know who will play quarterback, the wide receiver position was another place that needed some depth. The team traded Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns but did re-sign Tim Patrick. Still, the team needed a solid secondary wide receiver, and they signed one today. Former Detroit Lions receiver Josh Reynolds has signed a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos.

Josh Reynolds was drafted by the Rams in 2017. After playing out his rookie contract, he played for the Titans for one season before landing with Detroit. Last season was one of the best of his career. He caught 40 passes for 608 yards and five touchdowns. At the NFL’s annual meetings in Orlando, Lions GM Brad Holmes was adamant the team wanted to retain Reynolds. Instead, he decided to sign with the Denver Broncos.
Money may have been the deciding factor. Reports indicate that the two-year deal can be worth up to $14 million, though final details have not been released. The Lions may not have been willing to go that high for their third-best receiver, especially considering the depth of this year’s draft.
Denver Broncos Offense
The Denver Broncos have an interesting group of receivers right now. Courtland Sutton is the clear number one. However, beyond him, there are many questions. Tim Patrick is a solid receiver but is coming off back-to-back serious injuries. Marvin Mims Jr. showed promise in this rookie season but needs to make a jump to become a consistently productive receiver in the league.
Ultimately, the Denver Broncos have to figure out the quarterback position. While they may not get aggressive and take one of the top prospects, the team will likely take one of the players in the next tier. Sean Payton has his work cut out for him, and this will be an interesting team to watch in 2024.
