The Denver Broncos are turning the page on last year. They are taking a huge dead cap hit to get rid of Russell Wilson. Many other veterans have been released to make cap space. Head coach Sean Payton wants to tear down this team to the studs. However, having veterans on the team is necessary. The team decided to keep wide receiver Tim Patrick and worked out a one-year deal for him to stay.
Denver Broncos Bring Back WR Tim Patrick

Tim Patrick joined the Denver Broncos in 2018 and worked himself into the starting lineup. He was rewarded with a three-year, $30 million contract at the end of the 2021 season. Due to some terrible injury luck, he hasn’t played one snap under that contract.
In 2022, he suffered a torn ACL in training camp and was lost for the season. After working his way back, he entered the 2023 season ready to go. He didn’t make it out of training camp again. When he was pushing off to run a route, he tore his Achilles. This offseason, the $9.5 million he was owed was too much for the Broncos. However, he decided to stay with the team and will return on a one-year prove-it deal.
Denver Broncos Fans Cheering For Tim Patrick
Fans were excited at the end of 2021. He caught 53 passes for 734 yards with five touchdowns that season. It was heartbreaking to watch him tear his Achilles after working so hard to make it back. The futures of Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy are up in the air, so having Patrick on the squad will help. As this roster gets younger, Patrick’s leadership will be vital.
The Denver Broncos will look very different in 2024. Their starting quarterback is in question, and they need help in many other positions. At the very least, fans hope to see the veteran wide receiver take the field for a live game snap in 2024.
