The UFL season is fast approaching! On Monday, the league held the final phase of their dispersal draft, where teams could add any available player who played in the league last year. This is the final step in the XFL-USFL merger before the season begins. Here are the results for the Birmingham Stallions dispersal draft.
Birmingham Stallions Dispersal Draft Results
The Birmingham Stallions selected 11 players in the dispersal draft on Monday, January 15th.

The Birmingham Stallions focused on the offensive side of the ball in the dispersal draft, with seven out of their 11 picks being on that side.
Birmingham Stallions Dispersal Draft Analysis
The Stallions came into the dispersal draft with a plan. They wanted to beef up the offensive line depth and get as much talent as possible at the running back position. While CJ Marable was protected, the team picked up three running backs, including former Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough. He spent last year with the team so that the franchise can keep some continuity in the backfield.
Two other picks, including their first selection, were spent on the offensive line. Larnel Coleman spent last year with the Houston Roughnecks, adding some depth to the position. The roster size is 75 players going into the February training camp. With the rare offensive line talent nowadays, having depth at the position isn’t a bad plan. Jahmir Ross-Johnson returns to the team from last year and is a massive player who adds great depth as well.
Player To Know: Ryan Langen
The team took long-snapper Ryan Langen in the fifth round, which isn’t exciting. However, it shows what the Stallions are trying to solidify going into camp, special teams. In the second phase of the dispersal draft, the team got former Pittsburgh Maulers kicker Chris Blewitt. He was perfect inside of 40 last year and had a field goal percentage of 84%. A great kicker doesn’t do much good if the rest of the unit isn’t up to snuff.
We’ve seen it with many other football teams before. A team that doesn’t have a well-oiled machine in the kicking game struggles to win close games. The Stallions have built championship teams, hoping to carry over that success in the UFL. Draft picks like Langen are the players good teams like to have on the roster.
Player To Know: Zaquandre White
As I mentioned before, the Birmingham Stallions loaded up on running backs. White is one of the most intriguing picks. He played for Birmingham last season and started off the season on a hot streak. Early in the season, he had a game where he rushed for 72 yards on just eight carries and two touchdowns. He didn’t do much the rest of the season as Marable became the bellcow back.
The potential is there; interestingly, the Stallions decided to bring him back. One of the training camp battles that will be the most fun to watch will be the backfield of Birmingham. I would be surprised if the team kept four running backs going into the season. Someone will be on the outside looking in. It might come down to who impresses the coaching staff in training camp.
2024 Outlook
The Stallions should be one of the favorites going into the 2024 UFL season. They are led by Skip Holtz Jr., coming off of back-to-back championships with the team in 2022 and 2023. He also won Coach of the Year in the USFL last season. They have brought back many of the same players from the previous two seasons and added some key pieces in the dispersal draft. Fans of the team should be very excited about what this team has done in January.
We don’t know the schedule for the UFL except for one game. On March 30th, the season will kick off with a matchup between the two champions of the merged leagues. The Stallions will take on the Arlington Renegades to kick off the season. The season starts with a bang, which should be a great start to a hopefully successful season.
