The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback room will look completely different in 2024. Kenny Pickett has been traded to the Eagles, and Mason Rudolph signed with the Titans this offseason. The team signed Russell Wilson to a one-year deal and traded for Justin Fields, giving the team two good options. Pittsburgh made another addition to their quarterback room on Monday, adding former Carolina Panthers starter Kyle Allen.

Kyle Allen has been bouncing around the league for the past few years. Carolina is where he saw the most playing time. He started 12 games, going 5-7 in 2019 for the Panthers. From there, he went to Washington, Houston, and Buffalo before landing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his career, Allen has 4,734 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions.
For the Pittsburgh Steelers, Allen brings another experienced quarterback to the team. While it is unlikely he will see the field in 2024, he will bring a safe floor. If injuries or poor play happened and Kyle Allen had to step in, he could win a game or two.
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Plans
The Pittsburgh Steelers are setting up their quarterback room for the beginning of the season. Teams can carry up to four quarterbacks in training camp and preseason. It seems likely that the Steelers will draft a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. While they won’t get one of the top prospects, there are plenty of tantalizing late-round prospects.
Spencer Rattler, Jordan Travis, Michael Pratt, and Sam Hartman are all worth taking a swing at in the late rounds of the draft. This is something the Pittsburgh Steelers have historically done. They like to have a good combination of young players and veterans at the quarterback position heading into training camp. Kyle Allen is a good addition to this team. They hope that behind a dominant defense, the offense can have less pressure and help the team thrive.
