The sophomore power forward averaged 16.4 points and 8.3 rebounds this season for Duke. At 7 feet tall, he provides the versatility many teams are craving in the modern NBA. He has the ability to stretch the floor while also playing inside. This past season, he was a second-team All-American. Filipowski said this in a statement on his social media account.
“After careful consideration and consultation with the people closest to me, I have decided to declare for the NBA Draft. This has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to pursue it. Thank you, Duke Nation. Your unwavering encouragement and belief in me have fueled my determination to reach this point. Whether you’ve cheered for me from the stands, followed my career online or simply sent positive vibes my way, please know that your support has meant the world to me.”
Where Will The Duke Star Be Drafted?
There isn’t a consensus on anyone in this year’s NBA Draft. All reports indicate this is one of the worst draft classes in recent years. Kyle Filipkowski is considered a fringe lottery pick, though some mock drafts have him in the late first round. The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor has the Utah Jazz taking the power forward 27th overall. Others are a little more bullish about having him going in the teens.
Even though experts aren’t high on this draft class, there are still quality players. In every draft, there are players who get into the right situation and flourish. Will the Duke star be able to find success in the NBA?
