The Baltimore Orioles are one of the most exciting young teams in major league baseball. They have collected loads of prospects, and many of them have been solid in the major leagues. The team decided it was time to introduce the majors to their latest young star. Sources indicate that the Orioles are calling up the MLB’s number-one prospect, Jackson Holliday.

The Orioles decided to keep Holliday in AAA for the start of the season. It didn’t take long for them to decide to bring him to the majors. While the club has not confirmed the move, ESPN’s Jeff Passan is very tuned into the MLB world. It isn’t surprising that the Baltimore Orioles want him in the majors. He is hitting .342/.490/.605 and launched a home run in his first at-bat.
In just 51 plate appearances, he has a 58.1% hard-hit rate. The team needs his bat in the lineup. Current second baseman Jordan Westburg is hitting a measly 194 in the first couple weeks of the season. While the Orioles are still doing just fine, they have dropped some games due to their bats struggling.
Crowded AL East
The AL East has gotten off to a hot start. The Blue Jays and the Rays both sit at 5-6 but are by no means playing poorly. Baltimore sits smack dab in the middle of the division, just behind the Red Sox, who have surprised some in this early season. It is the Yankees who have gotten off to a scorching start, mostly due to their strong hitting lineup. The Orioles hope the bat of Jackson Holliday can help them take the division yet again.
It was surprising to some that Holliday started in the minor leagues for this season. However, fans didn’t have to wait long, and it will be interesting to see when the Baltimore Orioles put him into the lineup.
