It doesn’t matter what you think about the rock! If you think differently, welp, you might get a rock-bottom or the Peoples elbow. Jokes put aside, Dwyane ‘The Rock’ Johnson, is one of the most idolized figures in both the Sports world and the movie industry.
The Rock played Football before Wrestling
Before setting the stage on the squared circle, The Rock briefly played College Football for a bit.
According to Wikipedia, The Rock played in 39 games with one start.
He stacked a whopping 4.5 sacks and 77 tackles.
“In 1995, Johnson graduated with a Bachelor of General Studies and a dual major in criminology and physiology” (Wikipedia 2024).
After playing college football, he decided to follow his father’s footsteps in wrestling.
Before his iconic character in wrestling, he debuted in the Survivor series in 1996 as Rocky Maivia.
He became the sole survivor in his traditional four-on-four tag team match.
The crowd didn’t like him at first due to thinking he came from a well-known Bloodline.
Eventually, around 1998, he decided to turn heel and become one of the most iconic characters in all of sports entertainment.
Before going solo, he was part of the nation of domination.
Around the Survivor series in 1998, he decided to join forces with the boss of the company and proceeded to embark on an incredible career.
He had great rivalries with the likes of Triple H, Chris Jericho Booker T, Rikishi, Kurt Angle, and other stars around the attitude era, Stone Cold Steve Austin was one of the most memorable.
They had three iconic WrestleMania matches at 15, 17, and 19.
Two were for the WWF title and one was just for bragging rights.
He had lost two matches against Austin but won the last one in Seattle.
How The Rock Became the Most Electrifying Man in all of Sports Entertainment
Around 2002, The Rock decided to step foot in Hollywood.
“The Mummy” was one of the first movies he starred in and he has been on a roll ever since.
Sure, movies like “Tooth Fairy”, and “The Game Plan” are criticized, but it’s the entertainment that matters.
Eventually, he decided to return to the squared circle in 2011 and hosted WrestleMania 27.
This is where he started his rivalry with John Cena, proceeding to face him at next year‘s WrestleMania in Miami Florida.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime matchup where The Rock had won against Cena in a classic matchup.
They faced off again at next year’s WrestleMania New York for the WWE title Cena had defeated him.
The Rock didn’t return back to doing movies but then came back again in 2015 and 2016 to make cameos in World Wrestling Entertainment.
The Rock will be in a tag team match with his cousin Roman Reigns against Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.
