Ring of Fire: Fury vs Usyk is an event that is taking place on May 18th, 2024. The event features 8 main card fights, many of them being for championships.

Agit Kabayel defeated Frank Sanchez in just 7 rounds of their 10 scheduled, a heavyweight fight that was for the WBO Continental Americas championship. Sanchez was undefeated coming into the fight, and this TKO loss is the first ever in his pro career.

However, another major fight that took place on this card was between Moses Itauma and Ilja Mezencev. This fight was for the WBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight title, and it saw a new star being made in the process.

This fight ended early in the second round, with a knockout being produced in the process. Undefeated 8-0 Moses Itauma kept his winning streak alive, as he hit Mezencev with a clean counter right hook to end the fight.

Mezencev was a 25-3 fighter coming into this bout, taking only the 4th loss of his professional career after this fight. He came into this fight as a heavy underdog, so the loss here was not very surprising, but it was still shocking to see him get knocked out very early into the fight.

Itauma is the new WBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight champion, a title that will certainly transcend his career to new levels.

Itauma’s next few bouts will certainly be those that will continue to enhance his record until he ultimately enters the top 10. This may include some veteran fighters who are currently higher than Itauma in the rankings, as it seems like at this point he will take whatever is given to him.

The main event of the Ring of Fire event will crown a new Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. If Itauma continues to keep his undefeated record and get flush knockdowns as he did today, he might just be contending for World titles in a few years.

It may be a while until Itauma gets his name up in the top ranks of the Heavyweight class, though it can be seen with his recent performances that he certainly has the potential to make waves in the division.
