After an ill-fated two years in Denver, Russell Wilson will need to find a new home. On Monday, the Broncos informed Wilson he would be released following the start of the NFL league year on March 13.
Wilson had a solid year in Denver as he threw for 26 touchdowns. He was in the top 15 in both completion percentage and passer rating last year. The market for Wilson should be a robust one, but these three teams would be the best fit for Wilson in 2024.
What Three Teams Should Target Russell Wilson?

Russell Wilson’s Fit With The Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta has a great roster but has struggled greatly as of late to get even average play at the quarterback position. The team had both Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke under center for them this season. This duo combined for 17 passing touchdowns and 16 interceptions this past season.
New Falcons Head Coach Raheem Morris offered a blunt take last week at the NFL Scouting Combine about his team’s issues at the quarterback position.
“If we had better quarterback play last year, I might not be standing here.”
Atlanta still went 7-10 last season with one of the worst quarterbacking situations in the National Football League.
Russell Wilson’s Fit With The Pittsburgh Steelers
Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin did it again. He finished .500 or above for a whopping 17th straight season and did so with sub-optimal quarterback play. Pittsburgh made the playoffs last season due to one of the best defenses in the league.
Steelers General Manager Omar Khan gave quarterback Kenny Pickett a vote of confidence last week at the NFL Combine.
“I have full faith in Kenny. He’s shown us some good things. Obviously, there were some issues with the offense and I’m excited about the impact that Arthur Smith is going to have on him”
Pittsburgh was seventh-lowest in yards per game and had the fifth-lowest scoring offense last year. The Steelers’ reluctance to improve at the QB position has left this proud franchise without a difference-maker at the game’s most important position.
Wilson’s Fit With The New England Patriots
It is a new day in New England, and number one on the to-do list for new Head Coach Jerod Mayo is to shore up the quarterback position. Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe made up what was arguably the worst QB situation in the league last season. The Patriots are a rebuilding team, and a veteran like Wilson will be a steady hand as the team transitions into this new phase. Wilson will be more of a sure thing than drafting a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick in this April’s NFL Draft.
Signing Wilson would allow the Patriots to either trade down in the draft to replenish a barren roster or the ability to draft their top non-quarterback.
Wilson is no longer the player he was with the Seattle Seahawks but would be a massive upgrade for any of these three teams heading into next season.
