San Francisco 49ers Will Be Without Multiple Key Players For Marquee Week 5 Game
Well, Niners Nation, take a deep breath. Thursday night’s showdown against the Rams just got a whole lot spicier, and not in a good way. The final injury report is out, and it reads like a “who’s who” of guys you’d rather see on the field than in street clothes.

The big headline? Brock Purdy is officially OUT. That nagging toe injury, which already benched him for two games, has flared up again. After gutting it out against the Jaguars, Purdy couldn’t even make it to the practice field this week. So, what does that mean for the 49ers? It means it’s Mac Jones time under center. No pressure, Mac, you are just leading a banged-up squad into a divisional brawl on national television. Good luck with that.
As if losing your starting QB wasn’t a big enough gut punch, the wide receiver room looks like a MASH unit. Both Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Jauan Jennings (rib) are also taking a seat for this one. Pearsall went down against the Jags, and Jennings is nursing a rib injury that’s apparently too much to play through. This leaves the 49ers’ receiving corps looking thinner than a supermodel’s patience.
Who’s On the Bench For San Francisco?
Let’s just rip the Band-Aid off, shall we? Here’s the full list of casualties for the 49ers:
- DE Robert Beal (ankle)
- WR Jauan Jennings (ankle, rib)
- WR Ricky Pearsall (knee)
- QB Brock Purdy (toe)
- WR Jordan Watkins (calf)
Adding to the suspense, rookie DT C.J. West is listed as questionable with a thumb issue. Because, why not? Meanwhile, the Rams aren’t exactly sitting pretty either. They have Tackle Rob Havenstein and Tight End Tyler Higbee listed as doubtful. But let’s be honest, the 49ers’ injury list is the one making fans reach for the antacids.
So, buckle up. Thursday night is going to be a test of depth, coaching, and maybe a little bit of black magic. The 49ers are limping into SoFi Stadium, and it is going to take a heroic effort to come out with a win.
