The 2024 NFL Draft is behind us, and the teams, including the New York Giants, are starting to take shape. Players from all over had their dreams come true of playing where only the best can. Now that we know who is getting the new blood, there are still a great many seasoned players who are being signed to play for new teams. The New York Giants have just signed accomplished wide receiver Allen Robinson II.
Allen Robinson changes the New York Giants in 2024
This Detroiter, Allen Robinson II, began his football journey in his youth at St. Mary’s Preparatory. For all the Eaglet Fans, in Allen’s senior year, he led them to the Division 3 State Championship, a testament to his dedication and hard work. Robinson II not only showcased his speed on the field but also demonstrated his talent and athleticism in the track and field team, inspiring many with his versatility.
With several college offers, Allen chose to play and attend Penn State. In his freshman year, he played in 12 games, and his three receptions added 29 yards for his team. In his following season, Allen caught nine passes for a 97-yard gain in his first season game alone. The next week, he had ten receptions for 89 yards with a touchdown. Robinson was consistent from that game on in his college career, improving with every game.
Allen Robinson Only Moving Up
Allen came out of Penn State and was projected to be the first-to-third-round draft selection. The Jacksonville Jaguars caught up with Robinson in the second round in the 61st draft pick in 2014. He was signed on with a four-year $3.51 million contract with a $1.17 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $877,718.
Robinson’s rookie year ended with 48 receptions and 548 yards for the Jaguars. He started eight games and also played in ten, scoring two touchdowns. Allen’s next year with the Jaguars opened with him being named a regular-season starter, and the Jaguars were glad they did.
Allen Robinson’s Superhuman Catches
That year, Allen was a league-leader in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. Robinson was the first player in franchise history to be a league leader in receiving touchdowns in a single season. He was also named 31st by his fellow NFL players in the Top NFL 100 Players the following season with another highly successful year.
Allen had a change for the 2018 season when he signed on for the Chicago Bears with a three-year contract for $42 million. Next, Robinson was signed on with the Los Angeles Rams for $46.5 Million for three years. He didn’t stay long with them, though, as he was traded the following year to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a swap in the 2023 seventh-round pick.
Allen was released by the Steelers in early March this year, and in just two months, the New York Giants caught up with him.
This move may be exciting for Robinson as the Giants’ vast receiver pool is crowded. Now that they have Robinson and Malik Nabers, The Giants also have Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Isaiah Hodgins, who resigned earlier this offseason.
Allen’s move to New York means that the Giants are trying to improve their offense this year, and with Robinson’s running patterns, they look like they will do just that.
