With the NFL draft getting close, here are the New York Giants draft needs for this upcoming draft. The Giants had one of the worst offensive lines last season and need to improve it now in this draft. Another crucial need for the Giants is quarterback due to the Daniel Jones contract backfiring in the worst way possible. Getting a new quarterback could finally start a rebuild the team needs. The New York Giants in this draft also need a tight end due to Darren Waller possibly retiring soon. New York will need a lot in this draft, but these three will be significant needs for the Giants during this draft season.
New York Giants Draft Needs: Offensive Line
The New York Giants’ greatest need in this draft is to draft and develop the offensive line. Last season, the New York Giants had one of the worst offensive lines and must improve it now. Besides signing Jon Runyan, the offensive line depth for the Giants still has holes that need fixing immediately. For the Giants’ offensive line to enhance, they must draft Joe Alt for the tackle position. Even though the Giants drafted Evan Neal, they must put him on guard to develop more. Joe Alt, with the right coaching, could do well in the offensive line. New York if they pick a quarterback in this draft, must protect him with the best lineman in the draft.
New York Giants Draft Need: Quarterback
Another crucial need for the New York Giants is a quarterback if they choose to do so in this draft. While the Giants could trade up for a top prospect, they must choose the right prospect. If probable the New York Giants could trade up for Drake Maye, who will fit the offense perfectly. Even if the Giants miss out on Drake Maye, they could try and develop one of the other quarterback prospects. The New York Giants could go after Bo Nix in the second round if he drops in the draft. New York needs a new quarterback due to Daniel Jones potentially getting cut next year and needs to start over.
New York Giants Draft Need: Tight End
Getting a new quarterback and offensive lineman is needed for the Giants, but there is a need for a tight end. The New York Giants traded for Darren Waller last offseason, and he is not panning out well. There are also rumors of Darren Waller retiring, so there is a chance of drafting a tight end. New York is put in a rough position, so addressing the tight-end position could go well. The New York Giants draft needs in tight could be fit with Brock Bowers and or other prospects. While the Giants don’t need a tight end, they might not have a choice due to the roster depth.
Final Thoughts
For the New York Giants draft needs they have to fill out their greatest needs for the future. The New York Giants offensive line was putrid so they must address it immediately. Along with the offensive line, New York must get a new quarterback to start over from the Daniel Jones era for good. Another need that might be crucial is the tight-end position due to potential retirement and depth issues. The New York Giants right now are in need of a rebuild and this draft has the pieces to do it now.
