On today’s episode of ESPN’s First Take, hosts Christine Williamson and former New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers free safety Ryan Clark were joined by a lauded WWE superstar who has made the jump to both the big and small screen. During the interview, they may have just let slip that the WWE superstar could be making a comeback to the ring.
Will We See Him? WWE Superstar May Appear at Wrestlemania XL
While on a press tour to promote his new comedy, Ricky Stanicky, 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena stopped by First Take to dish on his storied career in the squared circle. He also talked at length about his transition to mainstream blockbusters and his overall thoughts on the current wrestling landscape. While asked by former footballer Clark if he would rather choose either his now-traditional three-piece suits or spring for his older, more renowned wrestling attire, Cena gave an interesting response.
The Peacemaker and Fast and Furious 9 stars stated.
It depends, if we’re talking Wrestlemania 40, cross my fingers, I hope my jorts are there. If we’re talking First Take, I will do my best to put on a waistcoat for you.
Needless to say, many fans online went bonkers at the thought of acclaimed actor John Cena making a return to become the Doctor of Thuganomics John Cena.
Cena also discussed why he followed in the footsteps of WWE Superstar legends including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Dave Bautista by starring in acclaimed R-rated comedies and major tentpole franchises. “I think WWE is so physically and dramatically forward, he said. “Our narratives are sports narratives through entertainment, and you don’t have a lot of space to laugh at yourself…This is a chance to show another dimension of your person.”
WWE Superstar: Who Could John Cena Potentially Crush this Spring?
Many were even quick to pitch potential match-ups that would make for an unforgettable WWE superstar night, including a faceoff against noted rival the Legend Killer Randy Orton or the Chain Gang Soldier joining forces with Cody Rhodes and fighting the Rock’s Bloodline.

“I really do think one final Cena vs. Orton should happen since John Cena is also considered retiring,” one WWE Superstar fan, @couldnotic, tweeted.” “It would be the end of an era for them. And maybe just for fun, Orton vs The Rock.”
I really do think one final Cena vs Orton should happen since John Cena is also considered on retiring, it would be a end of an era for them. And maybe just for fun, Orton vs The Rock. I think people just want to see Randy Orton to rko at The Rock. 2/2.

WWE Superstar: Is John Cena Tom Brady’s Muse?
In an interesting turn of events, Ryan Clark concluded the interview with Cena in a unique manner. The Sports Emmy award-winner drew several comparisons between the WWE Superstar legend and the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback and inquired about his thoughts. Both resided in Massachusetts and Florida during their legendary careers, during which Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won their last Super Bowl back in February 2021.
“I think fan fiction is a strong thing,” the WWE Superstar athlete and actor joked. “I sense Tom’s a very creative guy. He’s not only an accomplished athlete. I sense maybe a buddy comedy is on the horizon. So Tom, if you’re listening, I’m available and I take all calls, especially from Tom Brady.”
